While revealing a new chapter in the established Michael Myers saga, the film will surprise both classic and modern horror fans with a departure from prior films in the Halloween franchise. Audiences should brace themselves for unprecedented fear as Zombie turns back time to uncover the making of a pathologically disturbed, even cursed child named Michael Myers. [MGM] Expand

Zombie delivers a scary horror movie immediately recognizable as his own -- something that will come as a welcome relief to fans who've diligently sat through seven "Halloween" sequels in hopes of one day reliving the original's terrifying magic.

Halloween is a real, classic-style horror movie, not an exercise in gross special effects. Oh, and for those who’ve missed Carpenter’s classic, this will scare the candy corn out of you, but the original is still champion.

As it stands, he made a noble attempt, and it could've been a Hell of a lot worse, but it's not as great a film as its potential hints at.
  4. The new Halloween has sympathy for the Devil, but not enough.

Zombie continues to have a true, unflinching artist's eye for the sublimely horrific (a woodsy murder sequence is pregnant with disturbing, painterly compositions), that eye is wasted here on an unnecessarily moribund history of sociopathy as it relates to Halloween in Haddonfield, Illinois.
  6. Like kudzu vine, killer bees and herpes, we may never be rid of it.
  7. A film that contains dialogue so nasty and stupid, you'd swear (right along with the characters) that the booker for "Jerry Springer" wrote it (Zombie did).

No supspense. No terror. No excitement. Just......there. I would have died the first 10 minutes into the film. You know why? Because I would No supspense. No terror. No excitement. Just......there. I would have died the first 10 minutes into the film. You know why? Because I would have called Michael BORING, something him and this film have in common. Yeah, there's interesting moments, but that's just what they are. MOMENTS. Nothing happens. Ever. Throughout this ENTIRE 109 minute film, we watch michael- OMG- BEING MICHAEL. Next time, when a filmaker tries to remake a classic, remember one thing: TRY TO SURPRISE US. Expand

John C oringal was a masterpiece of new age horror, but these squeals only destroy and tranish its brith. Rob Zombie is a completly incombatent flim maker and musican. I still can tell the difference between any of his songs *(or atleast the so called 'hits'" this is terrible. The one thing this film does in spades, and the others like it, is show us everything that is wrong with our culture and entertainment taday. More of the same is NOT a good thing at all. So, shame on all of the money making producers (that some how makle money from this crap) and shame on Rob Zombie for taking nothing but our time and money, while still making his wallet much heavier.
