A hilarious Adam Sandler comedy. It is probably the best. The main laughs come from two costars. One is Kevin Nealon as a crazy but insightive golf player. The other one is Ben Stiller as the evil worker at a retirement home that Happy's grandmother temporarily lives at. But even without them, this movie would still be hilarious, they just add a lot of extra laughs.

It's Adam Sandler's best movie by a mile. It's really funny but I don't know why the hell this movie's metascore is 31. If you ask me it's worth at least a 70. And Ben Stiller is VERY FUNNY.

A 31? Are you serious? This is one of Adam Sandler's best movies of all-time, a heartwarming comedy about an ex-hockey player who finds his way into golf, a new love life, a mentor who is willing to help him, and goes to these golf tournaments to schmooze with snooty upper class types so he could help his grandma pay off taxes for the house. An all-around great, and hilarious movie. To critics who don't get this, I say, "So long, sucka!" KABOOM!!! Expand

I dunno what the critics were on, but this was an excellent movie! Seriously, the critics need to stop being such hardasses and learn to laugh.

This movie is awesome! I was wondering what this got after I saw Billy Madison get a 16. The reviewers must really not like Sandler. I don't get it, because this movie, and most of Adam Sandler's movies, is a hilarious, great movie. I'd never imagine Happy Gilmore would be in the yellows on metacritic, let alone red.

This is a very stupid movie but it is also very funny. The little bits and one liners are usually right on. This movie is definitley worth seeing.

I think most Adam Sandler movies are absolute crap, but this movie is HILARIOUS, and I have *no clue* how it could have such a low score here! There really is no hope for movie reviews - if you're considering watching this, don't miss it because of the scores here. It's an absolute classic, laugh-out-loud, fall-out-of-your-chair funny. Man, I love this movie.

If you just read the reviews above, from real critics, just ignore them. Happy Gilmore is about as funny as movies get. Watch this, even with low expectations, and it could become one of your favorites.

This is Adam Sandler's best movie of all time. I have no idea why the critics are such hardasses when it comes to good Adam Sandler movies. Happy Gilmore is an awesome golf comedy and has almost non-stop hilarity.

One of the many films where 'real' critics are off their freakin gourd! Adam Sandler in Happy Gilmore is simply hilarious... he just doesn't stop for a second. I will still drop everything to watch this when it comes on TV! It's GREAT!

My favorite movie of all time. Critics just love to hate and do not know comedy. Period. I'd love to see one of these critics write a script that could even hold a candle to a movie like Happy Gilmore. If a crtic tried to write a comedy they'd just get washed up in their own personal griefs. Lighten up, seriously. Get back to getting off on a "riveting" film. Man, I hate critics.

Comical but ultimately shallow and brainless entertainment. To be honest its an affront to the sport of golf. Its just like a sweet. Tasty on the outside but lacks lack substance underneath. Still this is Sandlers best movie. Not that that says much. Hardly worth watching.

Despite being unbelievably stupid on so many levels, this movie has unprecedented skits that actually work. Apparently, movie critics in the pursuit of excellence get a little stuck up in the same fashion as the traditional stale golfers ridiculed in this movie. Lighten up already.

I have noticed some people on here dismissing critics in general because this has such a low metascore. However if you go to Rotten Tomatoes this movie is all but fresh with a score of 59. This discrepancy is very interesting. It suggests the reviews here aren't a fair representation. For myself I am a huge Sandler fan but don't actually consider this one of his best although still very enjoyable. Speaking of golf comedies I think Caddyshack is the funniest movie ever Expand

Happy Gilmore is a cult comedy classic. This is easily Adam Sandler's best film and there few jokes that don't pay off. The plot is hardly the most original, yet that is not necessarily required to make a good comedy. The supporting cast are all excellent, but particularly good are Robert Kiel as a crazed Gilmore fan and Carl Weathers as Gilmore's coach.

Some critics doesn't like Adam Sandler these days, but forget them. "Happy Gilmore" was one of the best comedies of the 1990s. I love the film with a hilarious funnybone. My favorite part in the movie was when Gilmore met with Bob Barker from "The Price Is Right." Gilmore was trying to score a hole in one, but a fisherman of some sort distracted Gilmore and called him a "Jackass!" and that's why Happy wasn't happy at all. He cost him and Barker the game and when it's all said then done, Gilmore and Barker started to get physical and fighting their heads off as they brawled all the way to the end of the pond. And then Happy said "The price is wrong, **** I couldn't handle myself watching a classic Adam Sandler movie from Billy Madison to Big Daddy. I got it on DVD and it's a must-buy movie. Expand

Added together, there are about three minutes of funny material in Happy Gilmore, and pretty much all of them are in the trailer, leaving a sometimes painfully unfunny 90 minutes with which to contend.
