I don't know how people can do cartwheels for a terrible movie like "You, me and Everyone we Know", and pan this one. It has really good dialougue and acting. Elizabeth Banks is going to be huge--she's great in everything, comedy and drama. This is a solid, entertaining movie worth seeing.

A waste of a few hours. Dumb, dumb and even dumber. Totally predictable. Just a movie for some great actors to pick up the lunch check. Ho hum.

Word of mouth was that this was a pretty good movie. It stars a haggard looking Glen Close, a very accomplished actor, who should lose the page boy dark hair look. Although the acting was good, in my opinion it is too much over the top especially with all the gay bashing and in the closet hiding that makes up the theme of the movie. You really feel nothing for any of the characters except for the beautiful daughter who is living a lie and is about to be married, and the Rabbi played to perfection by the great George Segal. Somehow when all is said and done you walk away from the theater thinking the acting was okay but the movie is forgotten within ten minutes. And that's the rub. If the movie doesn't make you think about it for a while, then it failed to connect with its audience. This one misses the mark. Expand

Saw it, saw it coming without any real twists or turns. Good acting but so what? Left the theater empty. It was forgotten ten minutes later.

If you like Shakespear you'll love this as the actors all can act very well. The problem is they have nothing to work with. George Segal is very good in a too brief role as the Rabbi pretending to be a stand up comedian? Come to think of it he is. S0-SO at best.

Tony stop sniffing the glue will you please? Boring as hell unless you like to watch moss grow on a rock or paint drying? Avoid. If I want to Shakespear I will watch Shakespear not this twill.

Someone told me if I wanted to see great acting to go see this. So I went. Next time I will watch moss grow on a rock or paint dry; however, it is well acted. But it goes nowhere as it loops around to exactly where you know they will all be by sundown. Not my cup of tea.

A refund please if you will. Pretty lame joke of a movie. Everything telegraphed and then acted out as if it were a Shakeperian event. Awful.

Pompous Glen Close is overbearing trying to shag any guy despite the fact that they are all gay. Much ado about nothing. Left the theater empty although Elizabeth Banks is a future star and George Segal still has it.

Take great actors and give them nothing to work with. The result is Heights. A waste of your time and money. Everything is totally predictable from the time the movie starts.

Interesting storyline, excellent cast, and good performances. Poor sound or an inferior print resulted in my not giving this film a higher rating. I missed too many crucial lines. Even when a film is operating within the confines of a low budget, there is no excuse for second rate sound or substandard equipment.

A movie that means well with very good actors but limited dialogue and predictable TV sitcom-type behavior. Glenn Close does her best, and that's worth a watch.

A thoroughly engaging adult movie with a good script, excellent acting and some cinematography risks. Maybe the lack of car chases and explosions made it difficult to understand for some of the reviewers.

Great actors, great acting, but so what? Predictable and boring. Shakespear it is not. Is a rose by any other name not still a rose? This is a lemon.

Plain and simple I hated it. Great actors going nowhere. Thank God it all took place in one day or else I would have had to kill myself. I gave a one for George Segal.

Famed producer Ismael Merchant's last screen effort doesn't take place in India or interpret Henry James, but some viewers may very well end up wishing it had. A diffuse, meandering look at one day in the lives of several New York theatrical or otherwise "artsy-fartsy" types at crucial points in their personal relationships (at least one is facing an all-time worst day ever!) this simply doesn't have the tightness, discipline or command of pacing necessary to build any tension or much interest in most of the individuals involved; unlike Miranda July's multicharacter gem Me and You and Everyone We Know, in which absolutely everything works and all the pieces fit together beautifully, first time director Chris Terrio doesn't seem to have left anything off the cutting room floor; as a result, the few bits and sequences that really work (such as an uproariously funny meeting between an engaged couple of different faiths and a rabbi played by George Segal, who responds by administering a Ladies Home Journal-type psychological test) are set adrift in a sea of interminable sequences involving characters getting into cars, climbing out of cars, crossing the street, and doing nothing. It's worth a DVD rental (although it surely won't have any deleted scenes, for reasons mentioned above) because Glenn Close, who does more acting with her eyes here than most actors do with every muscle in their bodies, is so much fun to watch as an outrageously manipulative diva actress trying to break up her daughter's impending marriage by any means necessary. Close's interpretation of her character Diana's behavior restored fond if creepy memories of her most famous movie role--and made me extremely relieved that Terrio and Amy Fox's script didn't call for her to come in contact with any rabbits! This is a terrible movie that got some good reviews because it has a gay love scene.

Heights unfolds over a day, and follows the interactions of four main characters and several minor ones. At heart, this movie is about relationships (or really, Relationships) and how much we are willing to lie to ourselves and others to live the life we think we want. What I found the most astounding was how genuine the relationships were. The movie deals with larger than life characters, people that in many ways are your prototypical slice of movie New Yorkers - famous actors, photographers, magazine editors, etc. These aren't people I know and they aren't people you know (unless you Expand

Doesn't anyone out there in Hollywood have any idea on how to make a movie that the audience could enjoy? Enough is enough.

Heights comes crashing down to Earth soon after starting. Predictable and tedious with little surprises. George Segal as the Rabbi in an all too brief role could have saved this film but only with more screen time. The rest were capable robotic performances with little meat.

My God this was awful. The advance Scout team obviously took No Doze before entering the theater. Earth to Greg don't quit your day job as your review is awful. Shakespear it is not.

Director Chris Terrio confidently delivers a solid first feature, but sometimes doesn’t always engage in the characters’ inner demons, which could have made an even better film given the cast and material.

As enjoyable as Close is, Heights as a whole is a mannered simulation that only occasionally and accidentally feels like real New York life.
