Hot Pursuit is a quiet triumph of tone and timing. Nearly every scene is cut at just the right point, often topped off with a fantastic kicker of dialogue.
A mixture of mild pleasures and deep disappointments.

OK whoever user or critical jackass gave this movie a negative review, is a stubborn jackass that doesn't know comedy like seriously this whole made me laugh my ass off. If you're listening to critics like RT, Grace Randolph, or OA Scott then you might be a redneck. Believe me you'll love the movie #BanMovieCritics

This trite road-trip comedy can be so lazy that it squanders the goodwill of a premise that ought to be self-evident.
While a movie that fails to catch fire is disappointing, there is something even more dispiriting about a movie that doesn’t even bother to try, that tosses its stars a soggy book of matches and expects them to generate a spark.
There's hardly an area in which Hot Pursuit is not found lacking. The comedy is unfunny with joke after joke falling painfully flat.
The direction is credited to somebody named Anne Fletcher, but no evidence of it survives.
Hot Pursuit gets cold quickly. That’s certainly not the fault of stars Reese Witherspoon and Sofia Vergara, who work to keep this blessedly brief action-comedy shaking and cruising to an unthrilling end. The blame lies with a dopey script, director Anne Fletcher and a lazy Hollywood assumption that female buddy flicks should be as half-assed as their male counterparts.
Misfit pairings have been done plenty and can be fodder for folly & fun. Not this time. Reese Witherspoon is an uptight, by-the-numbers cop who's assigned to protect prime witness Sofia Vergara, a hot blooded Columbian (no stretch there). Witherspoon brings lots of spunk to her role, but the script is no help. Fans of "Modern Family" (where Vergara is so hilarious) can appreciate the writing on THAT show, because THIS movie demonstrates how good writing is vital to making her delivery work. Lack of any exciting action and an entirely predictable plot doesn't help. The movie is crammed with energy and plenty of sassy back and forth…just none of it's funny.

Wow...I can't believe that I actually watched this unfunny, annoying film. I also can't believe that these two women read the script for this thing and thought..."I should do this. It will really help my already highly successful career and it should be really fun"!
In all fairness, there was one laugh out loud moment during the first 5 minutes.
