    Like Robert Altman's "M*A*S*H" this has a banquet scene posed like The Last Supper, but the basic idea--toothless satire trimming a dull star party--reminded me more of "Ready to Wear."

    Figgis certainly was after something different, but like "Timecode," in which four linked stories unwind in separate panels, Hotel proves to be a fundamentally insipid bid at experimental narrative.

    Loosen up people. A bit capricious and the slightest bit obtuse, but it's nice to see someone with the courage to take some risks and try something new. A film need not reinvent cinema or perform a masterstroke to be worth watching or to sooth a brain that's worn thin by Hollywood's near-constant flow of uninspired trash based on much-hackneyed premises and painfully simple cliches. If this film is a personal milestone for the director on the path to finding their own voice, then I am honored to have been witness to the unfoldment of even a fragment of their dreams in cinema-graphic form. To be sure, the film contains many great ideas and some fresh editing approaches at the very least. Well done and I wish this director the very best!… Full Review »
