This review contains spoilers, click expand to view. I Hate Valentine's Day is a rom-com about a florist (Vardalos) who doesn't believe in relationships; she follows a strict 5 date where the relationship ends following the 5th date. When she meets a restaurant owner (Corbett) from the neighborhood, she realizes she wants more. Corbett is likable, but Vardalos plays a completely unrealistic and annoying character. The script tries to be humorous, charming, touching, original, but completely falls short. Overall, this is a very boring and dull film. It's honestly one of the most forgettable films I've ever seen. A totally flat movie. Expand

I Hate Valentine's Day may not have gotten the best reviews by the critics but I personally found the movie to be great!! The romance and accuracy of 'dating' portrade in the movie was excellent. I not only found great humor in it but also was very touched by the hardening emotions. The long lasting grudge that Nia's character had for something her father had done. I found to be very real and pyschologically possible. 10/10 from me. And I am a straight male! Collapse

I Hate Valentine's Day is a great movie-the sexuality is a little borderline, however. Otherwise,it's a great movie. Nia Vardalos and John Corbett are great once again. Don't miss it.

A plodding mediocrity with an almost mercenary adherence to formula.

Vardalos calls her film "the ultimate indie experiment," and if that's what is meant by ham-fisted pacing, writing, and acting, this is as ultimate and as indie as it gets.

I Hate Valentine's Day is a horror show masquerading as a romantic comedy. Maybe Vardalos is just in the wrong line of work.
