    It's killer, dude! [17 October 1997, p. 52]
  2. Another Kevin Williamson triumph, a smart, sharply drawn genre film with a moral center and a solid cast of young actors to hold it.
  3. There's no doubting that Williamson is a man who knows and loves his genre, and all the scary, screaming, sniggering fun continues here.

A polished genre piece with superior fright elements.

Despite an inordinately complicated third-act resolution, it's head-and-shoulders above most so-called suspense films.
  6. The story has more holes than the bodies do, but the shocks are efficient, and Party of Five's Jennifer Love Hewitt knows how to scream with soul.

It was one of those "at the edge of your seat" thrillers with plenty of jumps, scares, and surprises. Sarah Michelle Gellar makes you like the movie maybe more than you should, but that's fine by me.
