BrandonS.Mar 20, 20089This is a beautiful, heartbreaking movie.

RichardAug 26, 20026There's no discounting the power of the Dame's performance, nor the persuasiveness of Winslet's, or the feat of Bonneville's matching Broadbent. But because the genius of Iris Murdoch is given short shrift in favor of her personal idiosyncrasies, the ultimate tragedy of a brilliant mind lost becomes murky. The film gets awfully redundant in its last half hour.

JohnR.Feb 18, 20024We had high hopes for Iris after reading the reviews and seeing the long line snaking into the theater. With its clunky mechanics, barely engaging characters, and sometimes inaudible dialogue (reminded us of "Gosford Park"),however, we felt it was a poorly-spent 110 minutes.

TerryM.Feb 27, 20025A depressing story that concentrated on the decline of an artist, rather than on her formative and vigorous youth. Kate Winslet almost keeps the film bouyant.

JesseS.Aug 22, 200210But that's still too low a score! It's a magnificently structured film boasting four Oscar caliber performances. This is one of the best films of the year or any other eaar!

75It may not be a great movie, but the acting in it is amazing.
-
88The union of thought and feeling becomes flesh and blood thanks to four brilliant performers in Iris.

100First and foremost, Iris is a magnificent story about the enduring bond between two eccentric, astounding souls who somehow managed to find each other and hold on for dear life.
