The Weavers of 2003 did not sing as well as they did in 1982, or 1952, but if anything they had more heart, because more memories.
White-haired Ronnie Gilbert of the Weavers -- the group was blacklisted during the McCarthy years -- is in especially fine voice.
Any opportunity to see Pete Seeger perform, even at age 85, is worth taking - and Seeger is front, center and full-throated in Jim Brown's concert film.
As you might expect, this is hip deep in reminiscence.
Watching the aging, but still spirited, singers come together to express their gratitude for the man who started their careers is often genuinely touching.
Engaged but measured hagiography.
