Metacritic, you have misled me. This "movie" sucked the biggest nads. I feel like an idiot for having spent even one dollar for this worthless bit of garbage.

I consider myself a Horror movie buff....and even enjoy the occasional B-Movie. But this film made me ashamed I payed $8.00....Way too many problems...the editing was choppy, the script , so sad. Kudos to the leads and what they had to work with. But smart move to open it on Labor Day Weekend, with all the misleading reviews, it will still bring in the money , that is until word of mouth gets around that it is terrible. Do you think they were in a rush to release it before Halloween, when it would be opening against "House of 1000 Corpses," "Halloween 8," and "Bones"??? Expand

It starts out with a bang, grows increasingly horrific by the minute up to midpoint, and then degenerates into freddie krueger with wings chasing poor helpless folk. But then, horror movies have usually been better at setup than resolution. Still, the unhappy ending is refreshingly queasy.

Yes, another steaming pile. I thought "The Forsaken" (earlier this summer) was bad, but that looks like "The Shining" compared to this one. If you're going to create a bad guy like Freddy, Jason, Michael Myers, make him scary. If you're going for camp (a la "Evil Dead 2"), go for camp. This movie is stuck in no-man's land. The ending is total nonsense. The only reason this movie doesn't get a zero is that the set-up was pretty good, and the dude from "Ed" was pretty original. Expand

Why's there got to be some american that complains about how they "wasted 8 bucks". For God's sake, if you're that hard up you shouldn't be wasting time going to the cinema in the first place.

The budget for this film must have consisted of 2 kids allowances. This pathetic script and and provocative opening, and plastic bodies makes for a movie with a dispicable idea. Dont waste you precious timeon a ridiculous film.

Those that know me know to trust me: I totally agree with the New York Post, the first half hour is brilliant! After that this movie turns into traditional horror movie sillines. Count how many times you say, "you idiot!" after the first 27 minutes, you'll run out of fingers fast. However, still rent it for those first 27 minutes, they are that good!

This movie scared the sh*t out of me!!! I've seen all the usual 'teen' horror movies, and I thought this would be the same. It DID surprise me, it's nothing like I've ever seen before. Especially the part when Darry was in the Creepers' 'House Of Pain' (under the old church) and he saw all the dead bodies all up the walls!! That was sooo scary! I believe that the only downfall the movie had was showing the Creepers' face too early in the film. It was scarier when you thought it was actually just some psycho killer HUMAN, and not some demon. It was still a really scary film though. I didn't sleep for weeks after seeing it. I even went to see it twice at the cinema. It really did surprise and impress me. I can't wait for JC 2 in 2003. I just hope they don't spoil it, and go overboard with a silly plot, and cliches. Oh well, here's hoping!! Claire xx Expand

Starts off like gangbusters and ever so slowly runs out of steam. Made with a lot of style and decent dialogue before it lapses into predictability.

Somehow, this film's got a bad reputation. Because the sequel's so crap and, well, sequelly, the first is considered rubbish by association. But it's actually good - from apprehensivemysterious first half to inferior but great oh-so-that's-what-it-is-oh-my-god-run-like-hell second. Neat. Unfortunately, it's gone and franchised itself. In a few years, after Jeepers Creepers 666 comes out, no-one'll look at it twice. It's just another Howling. Shame. Expand

Early interest and mild suspense gains this a few points but I really didn't like it much. A little too ridiculous and overacted for my taste. Others might enjoy it, making it worth looking at, but you've been warned. There are other films in this genre that are much better.

I like how it makes you jump from old gags. But it seems as if the writers of this movie got drunk and forgot to finish the ending. I would like to know what the heck was going on with "The Scary Dude."

I bet you I spent the same amount of money on seeing this movie that they did making it. It's the worst, most contrived, pretentious and unoriginal freak-fest I've seen since the comedic "Tales From The Darkside: The Movie".

At the start this film seemed like it would be brilliant. The tension was incredible and some scenes were very intense as the killer was a mystery. All of a sudden we have this big ugly ..... which was just a joke. I think Salva got bored producing after the first 40 minutes.

OK. It's not "The Shining", but for what we've been fed the last several years in terms of horror (mostly crap written only to give TV teens a shot at the big screen), It was refreshing. No Knife wielding classmate with a chip on his/her shoulder. No gratuitous sex (thankfully it's a brother & sister team - WHO CAN ACTUALLY ACT BELIEVABLY LIKE SIBLINGS). It's the 1st horror I've seen in several years where I actually liked these teens well enough to CARE whether they got killed or not. Expand

This movie could've been good. I just didnt think the monster was scary. Just looked stupid with all the make-up. A regular-looking guy would've been a lot scarier. Also, the plot was extremely thin and didn't even really go into what the thing was or why it was killing. Gets points for the final scene which was pretty chilling.

I thought the first 30 minutes was scary as hell, but then it all becomes really stupid. If instead of going alien/monster villain, they had cast a regular but freakish looking person, it might have been scarier since it's more believable.

As has previously been noted, this is half a very good movie. It spends half an hour generating a fantastic atmosphere, drawing influences from the likes of Duel and Texas Chainsaw Massacre (in a good way). Then absurdly, criminally, it undoes all its good work with that ridiculous monster. As the Blair Witch Project proved, an unseen terror can be far more chilling than a visualized one.

I am creating a review magazine called AHD Movies (which stands for Action, Horror, Drama) and I needed a starting movie for the magazine that would catch interest, and I found Jeepers Creepers (and 13 Ghosts). It was a great movie, with a lot of special effects (and some over the edge gory parts) and the acting was incredible!I really enjoyed seeing the focus with Justin Long and Gina Phillips towards what scene they were doing. I cannot believe these critics who don't know a good horror film when the see one. They've been watching too many Halloween films and not sticking to reality. It was great!! Don't buy before you rent!! Expand

By far the most surreal take on the upholstery business to date... Would (probably) be terrifying, if a viewer could in any way identify with victims who, upon noticing a large figure dumping what looks to be a body into a dark culvert, say "Yes, the proper thing to do is drive back alone and climb on in." Horror fans - amazingly - agree with this premise every time.

Interesting premise and decent leader actors, but the script didn't have enough memorable or genuinely scary moments to be great. Also, the monster wasn't scary at all once you saw him.

It seemed interesting at first but really its just another generic horror film that does nothing to seperate itself from similar films in the genre. The acting is ok but thats about as good as it gets.

You can't help but laugh at the creature in Jeepers Creepers. The first half an hour is pretty promising but then it just gets ridiculous. The movie has zero scares and not even a shock ending. A very ineffective horror movie.

The film opens with great tension and scares, then promptly plummets off a cliff when the killer is revealed to be a ridiculous rubber suit monster and ends with gratuitous disappointment.

  1. The story (what there is of it) doesn't make much sense, but this is a very scary horror thriller that should keep you either on the edge of your seat or halfway under it.
  2. Works up a reasonably delicious tingle.
  3. Salva spins a backwoods serial killer setup into something really scary.
