All that remains are their clothes and belongings, and in an instant, terror and chaos spread around the world. Ray Steele (Nicolas Cage), an airline pilot, struggles to calm, and ultimately to save the lives of the passengers that remain on his flight, as the world below loses its ability to help his plane, and any other to safety. Running out of fuel, his equipment failing, his crew escalating into panic, Ray must guide the plane with the help of GWN reporter, Cameron “Buck” Williams (Chad Michael Murray) who takes over the role of co-pilot in the face of the crisis. For Buck Williams, being trapped at 30,000 feet with a plane full of terrified passengers means a struggle to understand the incomprehensible. On the ground, Ray’s daughter Chloe (Cassi Thomson) struggles to find her young brother and mother, both of whom may have disappeared in the Biblical event. Forcing herself through the chaos, Chloe must navigate a world filled with terror and despair. [Freestyle Releasing] Expand

The film’s appeal is largely dependent on Cage; Left Behind is a batshit-crazy Cage cult classic of a radically new stripe.

It’s inoffensive, unless you take umbrage at the idea that the only people who know not to steal are True Believers and all that keeps society from an instant meltdown are the Faithful.

Christian readers and audiences are the base here, but it’s hard to imagine that this incarnation of the story will persuade anyone else to find the Lord unless they’re sitting in the theater praying for the dialogue or special effects to improve.

The director, Vic Armstrong — whose lengthy résumé hews primarily toward stunt work — displays no facility with actors and even less with pacing.

Left Behind is one of those films so deeply, fundamentally terrible that it feels unwittingly high-concept.

Left Behind is biblical in its silliness.

This failed epic — really, an epic failure — would barely be noticed, were it not for former Oscar-winner Nicolas Cage taking on a “Sharknado”-quality remake of a Kirk Cameron movie.

I saw it in an almost full theater and the audience was cheering and clapping at the end. Different strokes for different folks.

The movie was obviously not on a big budget and had some of the cliche "action movie" stunts in it, but overall the movie was very good. If you are down on Christianity, you will most likely rate this movie low. If you love Jesus, you will most likely like it.

Don't expect a triple A movie experience. It's more of a made for TV type quality. If you are open to the subject matter, it will be an enjoyable experience though.

When I saw the trailers I was a little apprehensive in that Hollywood has a way of butchering some of the best books and making them into movie disasters but this one takes the cake. This book is suppose to be about the apocalypse. How did it get to be about Nicholas Cage piloting a plane and the peoples reactions and about Cassi Thompson saving the plane and just a little about the rapture. Firstly Cassi Thompson as Chloe Steele was grossly misrepresented and Nicholas Cage as Rayford Steele was laughable the state of shock he was in for the entire movie was hilarious. My advice for anyone watching this movie, read the books you'll enjoy them more. Movie was poorly made, poorly taught out, should have stuck to the book it would have made the movie Epic!. So disappointed, always wanted this book series to be made into a movie and then This Happens. Will not recommend this to anyone. SMH. Expand
