All that remains are their clothes and belongings, and in an instant, terror and chaos spread around the world. Ray Steele (Nicolas Cage), an airline pilot, struggles to calm, and ultimately to save the lives of the passengers that remain on his flight, as the world below loses its ability to help his plane, and any other to safety. Running out of fuel, his equipment failing, his crew escalating into panic, Ray must guide the plane with the help of GWN reporter, Cameron “Buck” Williams (Chad Michael Murray) who takes over the role of co-pilot in the face of the crisis. For Buck Williams, being trapped at 30,000 feet with a plane full of terrified passengers means a struggle to understand the incomprehensible. On the ground, Ray’s daughter Chloe (Cassi Thomson) struggles to find her young brother and mother, both of whom may have disappeared in the Biblical event. Forcing herself through the chaos, Chloe must navigate a world filled with terror and despair. [Freestyle Releasing] Expand

The film’s appeal is largely dependent on Cage; Left Behind is a batshit-crazy Cage cult classic of a radically new stripe.

It’s inoffensive, unless you take umbrage at the idea that the only people who know not to steal are True Believers and all that keeps society from an instant meltdown are the Faithful.

Christian readers and audiences are the base here, but it’s hard to imagine that this incarnation of the story will persuade anyone else to find the Lord unless they’re sitting in the theater praying for the dialogue or special effects to improve.

The director, Vic Armstrong — whose lengthy résumé hews primarily toward stunt work — displays no facility with actors and even less with pacing.

Left Behind is one of those films so deeply, fundamentally terrible that it feels unwittingly high-concept.

Left Behind is biblical in its silliness.

This failed epic — really, an epic failure — would barely be noticed, were it not for former Oscar-winner Nicolas Cage taking on a “Sharknado”-quality remake of a Kirk Cameron movie.

A thrill a minute, super fun and high level entertainment not far off the reliable entertainment level of anything Tom Cruise. Left Behind is the best of 2014 and anybody saying anything else, is simply not being honest and they know it. My family , all six grown kids, in-laws etc, agreed. We thought it was the best of the year at theatres. We'll see what 2015 holds ! Expand

If u are a Christian believer, then you will probably love it; and if you're not then you'll probably hate it. Its about the rapture, and it could very easily be Christian documentary. All in all, decent acting, a good script but all quite predictable in the end. The characters are interesting, and keeps you watching the movie, but after awhile, it just gets way too dull. There are some really god awful movies out there, so if you have nothing better to do, then watch this. Expand

And the writing of the movie and the corniness of the scenes is simply TOO MUCH. It's just so so SO cheesy and "old timey". To explain, one example of this is the music, if you take any stereotype Christian Group mood music you'll have the OST to thie movie, or another is the inclusion of a little kid who's part of the family who literally loses his **** when he gets "a brand new baseball glove! OH BOY!" no really, that's a direct quote...

anyway...old fashioned values wouldn't be in the crapper when it comes to pop culture if movies like this didn't suck as hard as the new Teenage Mutant ninja turtles movie lol...
