  • Summary: Based on a non-fiction novel by an ex-convict about how to stay out of jail (and/or survive it once you know you're headed upriver), Let's Go To Prison is an uncompromising, no-hold-barred revenge comedy. This prison movie takes a fresh, probing look at our penal system -- rife with plenty of sweet, cloistered, man love. (Universal) Expand

  1. It takes a while to realize that this is actually a sly, very funny comedy, one that stays admirably deadpan every time you think it’s about to veer into gross-out territory.

Unlike the vast majority of rude bigscreen comedies these days, "Prison" may actually improve with repeat viewings, since its best aspects are offhand enough to be missed the first time around.

Much funnier and weirder than you think.

I'm a fan of director Bob Odenkirk, but my high hopes for this comedy were dashed by screenwriters Ben Garant, Thomas Lennon, and Michael Patrick Jann, all alumi of "Reno 911"!

Prison makes its 84-minute running time feel like a five-year sentence with no chance for parole.

The real crime here is that Let's Go to Prison made a daring escape from direct-to-video stir into the relative freedom of your neighborhood multiplex. Consider this one disarmed and extremely pointless.

I watched this film numerous times and I still enjoy it. Yes it may not be the best film out there but its a priceless comedy that will keep you laughing through out. Collapse

Top notch comedy in my opinion. The prison setting is surprisingly fun (perhaps too fun considering it is prison) and Dax Shepard's character is an absolute blast. The way he interacts with Arnett, who is also excellent here, is shear fun. McBride also serves as a very funny and surprisingly likable character. I also like how the film never goes into some of the gross territory it could have. It's something I find very respectable There is one or two light issues I have with the plot, but overall I had a blast watching this. So if you're looking for a funny comedy and missed this one through the years, then I recommend you give it a shot. It's very funny and a lot of fun. Expand

There was more to this movie than the superficial and sometimes hard-to-harness humor associated with prison life. The ONLY thing that could even be REMOTELY funny about being incarcerated is the realm of sexual humor. But this movie had something more going for it than its humor. It also has a message, one that can be applied to just about any situation. For anyone that has ever doubted whether they can rise to the occasion, this movie is a representation of the fact that, given dire circumstances and the need to survive, people can surprise themselves with what they are capable of. A comedy with a message...that isn't an easy task to accomplish. Expand

This is a funny movie. It's clearly not the best comedy movie ever, but it is enjoyable. It's worth renting if you're bored, and just want something to laugh at. Expand

Job, I mean, Will Arnett, is brilliantly funny in this crappy thriller. Did I say crappy? I meant good.

Not the best idea for a film. Not by far. Also, poorly acted and the director should be lynched.

There is nothing good about this. Hell--there's not anything remotely mediocre about it. It's THAT awful. What did you expect? It's called "Let's Go to Prison". Things better than watching "Let's Go to Prison" Getting your penis caught in a rat trap. Watching Freddy Got Fingered Hell---actually going to prison might be better than watching this. (Note: Don't actually try this, it's only hyperbole, trust me.) Expand
