An earnest but hopeless attempt to tell a parable about a man's search for redemption. By the end of his journey, we don't care if he finds redemption, if only he finds wakefulness.
  2. 38
The actors are their usual reliable selves; you can't really blame them for the unlikely mess Levity becomes.
  3. 38
First-time director Ed Solomon has corralled a stellar cast for his indie drama Levity -- and then put them through paces as plodding as a draft horse's.
  4. The movie wants to trade on atmosphere more than plot, but even the atmosphere rings false.
  5. 30
So solemnly paced and deliberately performed that it seems to solidify before your very eyes.
  6. 25
A dreary film that's damn near torture to sit through.
  7. Suffocates under its own good intentions and inexorable sense of doom.
  8. 16
Ponderous, pretentious and boring, Levity becomes ironic on top of itself. You won't pity these people. You'll start laughing at them. Like a clown.

This movie has an amazing cast, but it was a bit slow moving for me. If this was a book that I could put down and pick up at will, it would have easily been 5 stars. It is so well written, but as a movie, it was quite slow. Full Review »

Above average story about a man seeking redemtion and a new purpose in life. Billy Bob Thorton shines again in this well worth watching movie. This movie explores one mans challenges with dealing with his own mistakes. I think we have all have the desire to make amends from time to time. Therfore this movie can appeal to most audiences.
