Lottery Ticket gets far on the strength of its star's charisma and a likeable tone.
  2. This movie's good. It's fast, deftly paced and funny.

No doubt the characters are stereotypes, but the performances are handled with a knowing wink and a great deal of fun-particularly Mike Epps, who shines as a hammy Little Richard-style preacher.

The prevailing presence in this crowd-pleaser is Ice Cube, whose evolution from hip-hop threat to screen paterfamilias is now complete.

If Lottery Ticket had as much conviction as laughs, it could have hit the jackpot.

More helpful is Ice Cube's endearing performance as an aged sparring partner of Leon Spinks and Muhammad Ali who provides cover and advice for Kevin as he tries to hold onto both his wits and the ticket.
  7. The Lottery Ticket doesn't hit the comedy jackpot, but it doesn't roll snake eyes, either. In my book, that's a winner.
  8. Like Kevin's lucky fortune cookie, Lottery Ticket is a sweet treat with a substantive message.

The idea that someone in the projects is going to win a ticket and not get killed for it is impeccable. Either way, Lottery Ticket does show that money won't make you happy if the people around you aren't. I guess that's the message. But with very little to go on, Lottery Ticket find itself in the middle of nowhere at the end of the film. Full Review »

Sometimes the humor is a bit corny but overall this is yet another feelgood movie for the Sunday afternoon. Although, it's quite predictable but nice.
