  • Summary: With the approach of Christmas causing him to feel lonely in life and love, Robert Malone braves the wintery snow to arrive home from his job at the grocery store only to find a stranger standing in his home. What begins as an odd and awkward encounter quickly blossoms into what appears to be a romantic late life love affair that takes us on a heartfelt and wonderful journey which takes an unexpected turn. It's still worth seeing for its two dazzling centerpieces.
  2. It's a tired genre, one that would be greatly improved if, ironically, far younger actors showed the energy and command these two old hands do.
  3. Landau and Burstyn remain compelling throughout.
  4. The production is over-stuffed with cutesy split screens, jarring dream sequences and a pushy score by Bright Eyes band members Nathaniel Walcott and Mike Mogis that succeed in dragging the proceedings from merely cloying to increasingly annoying.

But if you just GO with it, it's a very touching experience. Expand
  2. A great premise marred by poor execution. A notion this complex requires more foreshadowing and less sap. It's so saccharin for so long, you can't wait for the hammer to drop. By the time it arrives it's too late and way too contrived. Landau is a fine actor but you'd never know it here, mostly, I think, because his character is a puppet, pushed and manipulated all the way through. The montages attempting to illustrate the his state of mind are hazy and repetitive â Expand
