  • Summary: Lucie and Raymond's story is one of love, of the French Resistance in World War II, and of life. Cunning, resourceful, and romantic, Lucie risks her life for what the couple believes in. Her efforts to rescue the husband she passionately loves would seem to spring from the fertile imagination of a novelist... but this film is based on a true story. (October Films) Expand

  1. This is one not to be missed.
  2. Lucie Aubrac has it all: a tender romance, acute suspense, terrific acting, and a camera style and and score that are beautiful yet understated...a major work, possessing breadth, depth and passion.
  3. Stirringly romantic...a gripping period thriller that clicks along without resorting to hyped-up shock effects or gimmicky suspense.
  4. Achieves the rare feat of fusing tightly ratcheted suspense with intense romance.
  5. 63
Has too much docudrama and not enough soul.
  6. Reviewed by: Jay Carr
Seems so preoccupied with genuflection that it never achieves its subject's heart-pounding immediacy.
  7. 30
Makes for a tiresome antidrama populated mainly by unambiguously good characters who might as well be invulnerable.
