  • Summary: This film gives a rare glimpse into the fascinating mind of the man who created such visionary classics as Eraserhead, Mulholland Drive, Blue Velvet, Twin Peaks, Wild at Heart, The Elephant Man and more. Compiled from more than two years of footage, the film is an intimate portrait of Lynch's creative process as he completes his latest film, Inland Empire. We are with him as he discovers the beauty in ideas, leading us on a journey through the abstract, which ultimately unveils his cinematic vision. (Absurda) Expand

  1. As skewed, prismatic, and free of fluff as the man himself.
  2. It's precisely the worshipful feel of Lynch -- including scenes in which the camera points up at Mr. Lynch from what seems to be the floor, as if it were a faithful dog -- that makes the movie so sweet and so appealing. It's like watching a schoolgirl crush unfold, through a glass darkly.

Much of this is tedious--no more or less exciting than surveillance-cam footage of a regional sales manager, even if this one's desk offers a glimpse at one point of a legless baby doll.
