    I really liked this movie. It was very realistic and addressed some very real issues of what it means to be human.

    Simply wonderful. The precision that germans are renowned for is counterplayed with beautifully artistic acting from all the cast. Every character as crisp and 3 dimensional as can be. Each scene would bring fresh suprises. This movie would never be big, because americans would never understand it. It does not have heavy explosions or pretentious emotions. This is a fantastic film that will thrill those who find it by suprise for years to come. … Expand

    I wish this movie scored something better than a 73. It's a romantic-comedy and it has no sexual situations (which is getting REALLY old right now). It's funny, touching, and all in all fantastic. I was disappointed it wasn't nominated for Best Foreign Film. It had great acting in it too. Before I saw this movie, I thought I was going to hate it. I practically got dragged to the movie, and was suprised that I actually loved it! I hope the soundtrack comes out soon because this movie has such great songs!… Expand

    I loved this film so much, and I'm the type who prefers to watch sci-fi or fantasy films, but this was definetly an exception. It was so refreshing, feel-good, and, well, fantastic. I loved the setting and the characters. The only negative thing I can say about this film is that it always makes me feel so hungry afterwards. :)

    Loved it as much for the ingredients left out as for those put in; the director trusts her audience to read between the lines, and Gedeck's subtle performance is the perfect example of this. Also loved Castellitto as Mario, but can't help but cringe to think what Hollywood studios would have done with this -- given the film to him, probably, and spelled out every turn of event so that the dimmest member of the audience could follow easily. Thank God for independent film!… Expand

    The plot is thin as consomme, and the thudding score is distracting, but the heartfelt storytelling and Michael Bertl's disarming cinematography make this a food film to savor.
