  1. Expertly tossing off the type of well-sharpened banter that was the domain of Gable and Lombard and Tracy and Hepburn, Brad Pitt and Angelina Jolie -- no matter what their off-camera status -- make one swell combative couple.

What makes the movie work is that Pitt and Jolie have fun together on the screen, and they're able to find a rhythm that allows them to be understated and amused even during the most alarming developments.

As he proved with "The Bourne Identity," director Doug Liman can devise an enjoyable little action movie.

The problem with Mr. and Mrs. Smith is that it's really two movies in one. The first is a sly comedy/thriller worthy of Hitchcock, and the other is a big, noisy summer action flick.
  5. This romantic-comedy action movie is a fizzle.
  6. 50
By the time the film winds itself up, the sophisticated fizz of its first 45 minutes has been smothered by explosive bombast.
  7. It may be emblematic of new-millennium Hollywood that this movie has turned out to be one more emotionless, brainless, overproduced action film.

Mr. And Mrs. Smith has astounding action and comedy. Vince Vaughn has a nice supporting role at Pitt's agency as an assassin. The movie is refreshing in that all the comedy and action works in tandem. One of the coolest action comedies I've seen in the last decade. Expand

Exactly what it promised - fun, sexy, thrilling - this isn't meant to be Shakespeare - it is a fun summer romp that is already over the top in casting anyways. If you went to this movie thinking you had to believe the plot to enjoy it, you were a chump BEFORE you got there. It's eye candy in the best way. Probably would have been a better film without some overblown action stuff, but hey, they already MADE "War of the Roses". Expand

In the first big action set-piece, couldn't the screenwriter find a less convoluted way for both parties to kill each other? For symbolism's sake, sure, an all-out war in their own home makes sense. But, for crying out loud, they both drive back home to do it. All of sudden, the assasins adopt a moral code of ethics, something akin to the Old West, in which both parties have an equal chance to blow each other away. Why do they have to go back home for weapons? But stuff gets blown up, so nobody cares, right? Well, sort of. "Mr and Mrs. Smith" is a good film, that is, if you conceed the art of screenwriting, and champion spectacle over a coherent narrative. Expand

Rather boring and the plot isn't very good - they dragged everything out a bit much.
