Chris Gore is a genius! No-one, and I mean no-one could have come up with a great spoof of indies like this guy!

I couldn't give it a zero because it had atleast one funny bit but the rest of the movie was a waste of time.

Horrible rip-off of the far superior "Scary Movie."

I've never sat through a comedy and been so stone faced the entire time. Weak joke after weak joke. Don't bother with this.

Did anyone else notice that film threat was the only publication to give a perfect 100 out of 100? the founder of film threat is chris gore, the writer of this movie. dude has a horrible sense of humor, but at least his employees are down for the cause. that being said, i thought darren keefe was great in this role, but even better in a little known short called "secret santa deluxe." what is a secret santa deluxe, you ask?? just try and find out. BEWARE OF PERFECT FILM THREAT RATING!!!! This movie was created by one of the founding members of Film Threat. F-ing awful movie!! You can't spoof talent if you don't have any yourself.

Whether you love indie movies or hate 'em, this one will make you laugh. In the same league as Not Another Teen Movie.

Chris Gore's "My Big Fat Midlife Crisis!" Imagine, if you will, the worst skit ever performed on the worst sketch comedy show ever to air on TV - you know, something like "Blue Collar TV" or Kelsey Grammar's "The Sketch Show." Now picture it as being captured on home video by your uncle, who has yet to figure out how to properly use the damn machine. Now add on the thought of it being edited together by someone who just got their first video editing computer program, but hasn't bothered to look at the instructions. And wrap it up with the notion that it was all made by and for a group of friends who aren't funny at all but think they are. It's the kind of not- quite-a-movie that Filmthreat, had they not been given distribution, would wind up pulling out at parties, so that he and his drunk buddies can giggle about how much fun it was to make it. Yes, I'm guessing it was indeed fun to make. A bunch of pals clowning around on camera for an hour? Sure, sounds like a gas. But you know that queasy feeling you get when you're forced to watch somebody else's vacation videos - especially when the subject of said video likes to ham it up by humping statues and impersonating Pauly Shore? That, my friends, is the essence of "My Big Fat Independent Movie." Expand

Looks like some of these people haven't even seen this movie, but they sure hate Chris Gore and Film Threat! Bottom line: if you like indie films AND you have a sense of humor, you will find something to like about this movie. Anyone who gives this movie a ZERO rating simply doesn't meet one of those two criteria.

Lots of funny spoofs of lots of indie movies. Not always laugh-out-loud funny, but worth seeing if you like indies.

Got me laughing BIG TIME! Better than most independent comedies because it actually makes you laugh! Some jokes fall flat, but there are plenty of giggles, guffahs and laugh-out-loud moments to keep things fun.

Great fun for indie film fans! Best Christopher Walken impression ever filmed, no kidding! Some jokes are too obscure but overall lots of laughs and spoofs of over thirty indie films!

  1. It might have looked good on paper, but the results are mixed at best; despite a few early chuckles, the whole thing gets tired after 20 minutes.

Feels motivated by envy more than anything else-it's a sour, petty act of mockery that values its own ineptitude over genuine cleverness, travestying Quentin Tarantino and others simply for dreaming up gimmicks that worked.
