Miller is a truly wonderful to watch in a very difficult role. The kind of role where anything but smart focused acting would bring the entire film down around him. The movie starts-off hum-drum and gets progressivly wierder. There's no way to to know where this thing is going. It's the melding of satire and thriller that gets me excited about this. Visually, the color scheme gets strange too, and the empty Kubrick-like angles convey a hostile sterility. Nice work! Expand

An original and highly memorable comedy, and mention should be made of Ebiri’s work beyond filmmaking: he is also a film critic for New York Magazine, thus giving proof that those who review films for a living can also turn around and make a damn fine movie.

This is Ebiri's first feature after directing four shorts. He shows talent, but shouldn't give up his day job just yet.

New Guy isn't the first movie to get laughs from the bloodless milieu of contemporary corporate life. But it may be the first to offer a frightening glimpse of the actual blood pulsing beneath.
