It's a harsh lesson, but this movie is more than able to grab and hold your attention for it. I just wouldn't bring a date.
  2. 40
The director pulls back from the hotel, placing it against the skyline of our beautiful city, which appears to be waiting, patiently, for a more original exploration of its inhabitants.
  3. 38
Never decides whether it wants to be a black comedy, drama, melodrama or some combination of the three. The acting and direction are all over the map in this consistently depressing, if occasionally interesting, slice of life.
  4. 30
Rifkin milks the generic Bukowski-land setting for all its melodramatic potential, but what little grace his tale of precarious skid-row dignity achieves is pushed into the margins by predictable plotting and tiresome histrionics.

Cheesy, creepy, an exploitation flick with a budget but without the fun. Sam Moore stole the show, but probably tried to give it back after he saw the end product. Expand
