"No Strings Attached" is a romantic comedy about Emma (Natalie Portman) who decides to use her friend, Adam (Ashton Kutcher) for only sex. The film, to me, was so predictable and also, not funny. You could tell from the start that Emma was going to just want sex and that Adam would go along with it, until, of course, he wants a relationship. I wonder what's going to happen? This film is boring and predictable, and just badly written. Natalie Portman's latest film does impress and it's a shame since she was in the very good movie, "Black Swan" recently. [R] 2/10 Expand

"No Strings Attached" is a romantic+sex+humor movie with the formula everybody recognizes. I wonder if Natalie Portman recieved a metal shock for earning a Oscar, because this movie isn't even close for a Oscar won person to perform.

One of the most predictable and uninteresting romantic comedies I've ever seen. Seriously, Matthew McConaughey's movies are more entertaining than this.

It's not the worst rom-com in recent years, but it's far from being the best. Pros: Natalie Portman and Ashton Kutcher are the most charming aspect of No Strings Attached. Cons: Predictable, cliched, and formulaic -- seriously, not one brand new idea can be seen.

Nothing bad, but nothing new -- or even a bit original -- is offered in No Strings Attached's heavily cliched script and gag humor. It's not the worst rom-com in recent years, but it's far from being the best.

Alright, I believe this movie succeeded in the box office primarily due to Natalie Portman, but there could still be a couple Ashton Kutcher fans out there so I wonâ

Unfortunately this does not work on many levels. There is no chemistry between the leads and in particular Portman is unconvincing and detached. The script is distasteful but on the bright side one that I will quickly forget.

A totally forgettable and harmless piece of rom-com fluff. It works mildly well as a one-time date movie, but it doesn't have the quality to stand up to repeat viewings.

Mediocre film, some of it was funny, but mostly a lot of lame cheesy lines that drag on too long. It gets better near the end, but still mostly forgettable.

Very dull romantic comedy we seen million times before, nothing new, or worth talking about. Natalie Portman is another sex crazed movie, nothing but a predictable dreadful bore.

If it wasn't for the last 10 minutes of the movie, it would have been a solid 6. Kutcher and Portman are nothing special, their friends in the movie are the people who make it bearable.

This film is bad Bad bad! RomCom at its lowest denominator, neither funny nor tearjerking. I'm am so angry that at how much money this film made but hardly surprised. Synopsis: This film stars Natalie Portman and Ashton Kutcher and I'm not even gonna use their character names because you know the audience and producers don't care. Ashton and Natalie meet as teens at a summer camp and Kutcher is immediately attracted. They meet again ten years later at a party and then Natalie is kinda attracted because Kutcher let her use him as an excuse to get back at Natalie's mom...I guess?? Then they meet again five years later and she is attracted to him more? Kutcher then is told that his old girlfriend is bonking his dad and has been for a couple of months. Because of this trauma Kutcher wakes up in Portman's apartment and that morning they have sex. Which I don't understand because the night before he acted like a drunken fool swinging his wang around in her face. I mean come on! What MIT med student would tolerate that? Ok sure he is "Ashton Kutcher" but still! The sex is so good, even though it didn't seem that good in the scene, that they decide to become "sex buddies". Natalie Portman is a super Commitafobe and is the driving force that keeps them apart. But eventually blah blah blah you know the rest of the film. Review: Ok this film is terribly written, actually...I take that back. It's not that it badly written it's that it hits all the formulaic RomCom plot points. I guess its predicability what makes it so annoying. You've seen this movie before and you've seen it done better. Examples of the terrible writing with cliched dialogue: "you always do this, you always find something wrong with everyone who likes you" "please say something" "I'm not letting you go" None of the other side characters are remotely interesting. Every single one of them falls flat. Also the girl who plays the sister of Natalie Portman, they look nothing alike. Not that I have anything against Olivia Thirlby, she was good in the Wackness. Portman and Kutcher's chemistry is lukewarm and feels highly manipulative. On another note, Natalie Portman totally owns Ashton Kutcher in this film. She out acts him in almost every scene. Plus she looks smokin gorgeous and Kutcher body is all flabby. I mean come on Ashton I know you're tall and your genes have passed down a ridiculously gorgeous face, but you gotta try a little buddy. If you're a guy do not see this movie. Unfortunately if you're a not so smart teenage girl, this movie is probably like crack to you and you've probably already popped this movie into your DVD player by the time you finish this review. If only this movie were in 3D...oh wait they're already remaking this film "Friends w/ Benefits"....*sigh Expand

I felt that the movie did not do the hype justice. I felt this movie had a bit too much crude humour, and was directed in a bad way. I would not see it again, and I recommend you not seeing it either.

You'd think by the amount of romantic comedies that Ashton Kutcher has done he would at least be competent at spotting a decent script for one when he read it. However he decided to make No Strings Attached, a poorly scripted excuse for a romantic comedy that tries to be endearing yet cool by its premise of a overtly emotional guy and a closed off girl becoming sex buddies. However there is nothing cool about it, nothing endearing about it. Its soulless. The script decides fits in lines of dialogue that are so remarkably terrible you can't help but laugh. The end itself is so rushed and badly put together that its painful to watch, let alone enjoy. Finally if you want to swear in a movie go whole hog, don't fit it in here and there just to make it look like these characters know how to do it. If anything this film is a prime example of how not to do an edgy romantic comedy (for that, watch Friends with Benefits). Expand

Although you would expect it to be good because of Natalie Portman and her new found acting skills but she goes back to her bad acting along with Ashton Kutcher and the rest of the bad crew and the whole movie just ends up being a complete mess and most of all a waste of precious time. I give this movie a 27%.

Why has Ivan Reitman made this film and how has he made Natalie Portman's character so dislikable. Saying that, Ashton Kutcher's character isn't a blast either. The producers should take a long hard look at She's Out of My League and realise that rom-coms are all about the likability factor within the main protagonists.

There is completely NO chemistry between the two characters, which makes movie is so dull. Despite my love for Natalie Portman, I could not even finish this film, even when I was already forwarding it...

Not a bad premise, but material demanding a light touch is weighed down by a desperate desire to fit in, like a little kid swearing to impress the big boys.

May have been written by a young woman, but it feels like a middle-aged man's fantasies about young people. The dialogue is actually - to retrieve an old word - vulgar. [7 Feb. 2011, p. 82]

Bell steals every scene she's in, and her abrupt dismissal feels all the crueler for so much charisma wasted: She shoulda been a contender.
