JerryH.Jul 24, 20033This is not a good film. Is there any rhythm to this film at all. Over-wrought, boring, blah. Almost nothing works. It gives independent film (and those critics who fell for it) a bad name. And I was looking forward to it.

AshleyAug 20, 20038The hope emmitted throughout this film by all charachters, particularly the boy, is enough to touch your soul.

RobertH.Feb 20, 20043Made by people trying very hard but who are also quite lost. boring and meaningless to the point of extreme irritation. but i would recommend it as an example of the kind of films being produced by the degenerated spawn of the david lynchs, tim burtons and cohen bros. of the world.

JohnY.Jul 28, 20038Not a masterpiece, but a visually stunning work that has a pace and mood that's all its own. At times, it's quite mesmerizing.

BillT.Aug 17, 200310A surrealist masterpiece. It works on you in ways you can't explain, touches you despite its unreality. This is art, not a Hollywood Movie. Its all about the sights and sounds and especially feel of the filmakers for the landscape. The plot is secondary. If you like Hollywood cliches don't bother. If you like originality and creativity you'll be rewarded.

JohnAug 18, 20032Northfork may be my least favorite film this summer. It is entirely pointless, ridiculously pretentious, and boasts a level of humor even more mundane than its earthen color palette.

DebbieN.Aug 30, 200310So many underlying themes. It gets you thinking.

ElliottSep 10, 20032Something is horribly, horribly wrong where, in a movie seemingly set in the 50's, "Whatchoo talkin' 'bout Willis?" is actually said in all seriousness. Aside from the beautiful imagery, this film is awful, awful, awful. It's certainly the most abysmally boring film in a long while.

TelyS.Feb 3, 20045It's no masterpiece, but I found it difficult to hate this liitle film. What saves it from my wrath also is the film's main flaw, there's no single theme that stands out as interesting enough to care about., for better or for worse.

RyanM.Mar 22, 20053Monontonous and silly. the polish bros. are trying too hard to make an art piece. problem is not much substance with hollow performances. weird sometimes for the sake of being weird. some shots were nice while others were very cliche and overdone. i looked forward to this movie but came away feeling empty and irritated.

JScottJul 16, 20031Trash. Plain and simple. Absolutely no payoff at the end. Pretentious. Uneven in tone. Awful acting from Anthony Edwards (although it might be the fault of the writing) and Mark Polish (no, it's definitely him). Crap, crap, crap. Stay away. Thank you.

armandosJan 15, 20050This is a real stinkeroo-it gives art movies a bad name-on of the worst movies that i have seen in a long time-I really liked their first movie so was doubly dissapointed with this piece of murky trash-avoid this a all costs unless you need a cure for insomnia.

40The film is meticulously crafted but frustratingly meaningless.
-
80Northfork may be doomed, but the Polish brothers and cinematographer M. David Mullen (who worked with the brothers on their previous features, "Twin Falls, Idaho" and "Jackpot") make the place feel like heaven on earth.

90Love it or hate it, Northfork is a cinematic vision (visually and textually) unlike any with which most moviegoers, even arthouse regulars, will be familiar.
