While many might say it was "flat, stupid," and many other things, the film was superbly done with wonderful stunts and a good plot. Firm casting helped make this a stunning martial arts film.

It's common sense, not cowardice, when Ting runs away from an army of warriors; my favorite moment from "Ong Bak: The Thai Warrior", because the odds of winning a one against twenty battle is so unlikely, it usually prevents me from completely enjoying those epic showdowns in even the best martial arts films. Tony Jaa runs away and takes our breath away with his remarkable athleticism and agility. And yes, he can fight, too. Jaa would k.o. the "Far and Away" Tom Cruise with his little pinkie. The fighting scenes in "Ong Bak: The Thai Warrior" are more successful, however, when Jai is on his quest for the Buddha's head. After Ting finds Ong Bak, the movie sort of overstays its welcome because the film is reduced to pure spectacle. But you've got to love a chase scene with vehicles that's anti-"The Fast and Furious", and a female sidekick who doesn't have the obligatory moment in which she discovers her inner-Buffy and kicks some ass. Absolutely, positively the hardest Kung-Fu, martial arts flick you'll EVER see!!! I was kinda spectical, but my gut instinct told me to see it... I did and it was more than i could ever have asked for. Normally i never hype movies up, but the moves in this movie are far superior to any made by Jackie Chan or Jet Li (and i have a huge amount of respect for them). Go see this flick tonight. Dont wait another day... Warning though, you'll never view a martial arts movie the same ever again... A++++ Expand

The best martial arts action since Bruce Lee. Tony Jaa's style is brutal and beautiful at the same time. Equal parts visceral intensity and mind blowing finesse. Ladies and Gentlemen, meet the future of action.

This Muay Thai fighting movie is one of the best ORIGINALS..no strings attached,no computer effects, and best of all the stunt man himself is the main character. So no two different people playing the same character.

A wildly entertaining martial arts battle film featuring one extremely talented martial artist, and one equally talented comic foil. The people who hate this movie for its plot don't understand why this sort of movie is made. Tony Jaa's wire-free antics are a greater spectacle than most CGI studios could hope to render.

The fight scenes make Jackie Chan and Jet Li look like over-payed amateurs, but the story could have been better. No emmy nominee, but it'll get your blood pumpin.

If Van Damme were as good as Bruce Lee and Jackie Chan combined then you would have Tony Jaa in Ong-Bak. This is a martial arts film 70's style but the best in 30 years.

Tony Jaa is the next great action star. This film is going to put the fire back into martial arts movies. The bar has been raised, hopefully the film industry in THailand will continue to produce top quality movies such as this. (Also recomend Beautiful Boxer.)

I cannot believe what i just saw! Ong Bak is by far the best movie I have ever seen, Tony Jaa is unbelievable. I doubt anything will ever pump me up like Ong Bak did. I left the theatre wanting to kick some ass. Too bad it was the last showing of the night or i would have watched it again. If you miss out on this movie I feel sorry for you. BEST MOVIE EVER!

One of the "professional" reviewers said that this was "vile, humorless, distasteful, sickening violence". That's a bit harsh, but this movie is not for chick-flick watchers either. Slim plot, but absolutely mind-blowing action - all totally real! If you like this genre of movie, then you're gonna love this one.

I give it an "F" For FUN!!! As long as you don't expect the storytelling of Crouching Tiger Hidden Dragon or Hero you will have a good time with this martial arts action pic.

You wanna know why this sucks... 2 words, Messed-Up. Why bother wasting millions of dollars or any other currencies. Thai films are a complete and utter waste of time!

One of those surprise films that re-invigorated the martial arts genre in the middle of the decade. It had a good story which helped it stand out from the pack. The stunts were top notch which helped it hang with some of the best martial arts films of all time. The acting is what you would expect but everything else, and it's re-watchability, make Ong Bak an instant classic.

But the best way to enjoy Ong Bak is on its own gritty, low-budget level, skins, brains, and guts galore, a viscerally entertaining slice of Thai filmmaking that will leave you grinning ear to ear.

Overstays its welcome, but for mindless thrills you could do worse.

Having root-canal surgery would be less painful than sitting through the martial-arts disaster Ong-Bak: The Thai Warrior.
