A small, carefully composed film that rejoices in the parochial lingo and mores of its richly textured characters.

This darkly humorous, sometimes even raunchy film mostly eludes a typical cutesy, feel-good formula.

A terrific showcase for a troupe of fine actors who rarely find work outside the Australian film industry.

    A quirky dramedy.
  5. The realistic scenes of oyster farming and the beauty of the Hawkesbury River lend this movie a degree of fascination that its taciturn, beer-swilling characters can't provide.

There are the makings of a funny movie here, but novice director-writer Anna Reeves isn't up to the job. While her cast is talented, Reeves doesn't concentrate long enough on any plotline or character to build viewer interest.
  7. Fails to overcome its hokey script and cliched characterizations.

This film is another very bad Australian 'fish out of water' movie, with bland, one-dimensional characters and a script which is flimsy at best. A poor attempt at quirky comedy. Expand
