Perception Image
  • Summary: Perception is a darkly comedic gem that stars Piper Perabo as Jen Marshall, an LA girl with a reckless personality and a laundry list of burned bridges. When Jen returns to New York and unexpected tragedy strikes, it is up to her mistreated friends to decide between helping her through this tough time or abandoning her as she has done to them so many times before. This should be funny or sad, but it's neither, in this incoherent cross between "Riding the Bus With My Sister" and a Christina Ricci vehicle.

Schwartz throws in so many characters and implausible subplots - none worth mentioning - that Perception sinks under its own weight.
  3. As the jaundiced, disjointed, drug-infested story heads toward its dismal conclusion, its reputable actors vainly struggle to infuse the goings-on with a deadpan psychotic zaniness. But even when viewed sideways, Perception is not funny; it's hardly anything at all.

A trancendental masterpiece providing a film experience so all encompassing that I had to leave my seat twice: once to sob uncontrollably in the lobby, the other time to throw up. Expand

Although I never really considered seeing this movie I generally found it unimpressive at best.
