This one is dazzling.
You might be reminded of Jean-Jacques Beineix's 1981 thriller "Diva," which also involves crooked cops and Metro chases. But you need never have seen "Diva" to be captivated by the exhilarating Point Blank.

Point Blank does not disappoint. I gave it a score of 10. Not because it was one of the best films I've ever seen, but because it entertained, it thrilled, and it surprised. Why bother dissecting a film that leaves you feeling that way?

I can't recall another thriller that has maintained this kind of velocity without going kablooey and losing its train of thought.
Point Blank is as disposable as a feature-length episode of TV's 24: The movie is all adrenaline and excitement, and it doesn't really stay with you. Just try to tear your eyes away while you're watching it, though.
No good deed goes unpunished in former fashion photographer Fred Cavayé's cunningly contrived, energetically directed, thoroughly economical second feature.
An impressive feat that relies on distraction rather than fancy effects, it's easy to get swept up and forget that it's a very sweaty retread that's been done many times before.
Fred Cavayé shoots his action with both vigorous propulsion and visual lucidity. Unfortunately, however, his story's revelations, all of which are related to a recent corporate bigwig's assassination, arrive at least two-to-three scenes after they've already become obvious.
This is a decent fast paced action thriller film, in French. I liked that it was set primarily in a hospital and it kept me pretty engrossed throughout, although the plot isn't perfect but as a basic thriller film its not bad. I certainly found myself feeling sorry for the nurses wife (who is pregnant), although the cliche of it being a woman at risk and held to ransom, who has to be saved by the macho man sort of thing is relatively cliche ridden and cheesy I suppose but its a pretty easy and entertaining watch and so for what it is, its good. Not great but good enough.

Point Blank wants to sprint from start to finish, and does start with a bang, takes off and maintains and moves at an exciting pace; but the plot, most of which happens prior to the start of the race and is so knotty, that we have to get narrated often in odd breaks in the action, while the actors catch their breath, literally. It's been a while since I have seen so much running in a movie. I see where some critic get the Run Lola Run comparism. But even after being narrated up-to-date, I still don't think I could tell you everyone's motivation for all the running and shooting. The two main runners for their lives -- one even hops up from critic care and starts running holding in his insides -- are both good solid actors when they get time to act. A simpler evil chaser would have made all the running much better.

The movie is done well, within limits of it's genre. Plenty of fights, running, shooting, blood, etc.
Keeps the audience tense till the very end. I was expecting something better than that: some class, some elegance which sometimes come from French action movies, 'La Femme Nikita', for example.. Maybe I want too much. But again, every clichà of action movie is here: the villains and the heroes; the hero appears at the very last moment (how?!); the hero (un-trained) survives serious beating from professionals; and, of course, happy ending. I am sure I will forget about this movie sooner than finishing typing this little piece...
