Nothing near a modern vampire classic. Still, "Queen" is a great dose of vamp camp
  2. At its best, Queen is campy fun like the Vincent Price horror classics of the '60s. At its worst, it implodes in a series of very bad special effects.

It is happy to be goofy.

Townsend and Aaliyah are sexy as hell, and clearly willing and able to explore the darker truths of villainy, but they can't compete against the unwieldy script.

Like many genuinely awful movies, Queen of the Damned has the ingredients of a cult film.

Aaliyah fans, as well as fans of charisma, sex, and violence, will be sorely disappointed.
  7. Turns out to be a muddled limp biscuit of a movie, a vampire soap opera that doesn't make much sense even on its own terms.

A solid decent movie with a vampire theme. Main character is portrayed as a more extroverted vampire in the movie. It has some nice story telling and character background story. And also some decent action scenes, but too few of them. It is not a scary movie at all, and more of a documentary almost with some sprinkling. the main actor was pretty good, and the guy that played marius. but the other cast was not too interesting and none play a big factor anyways in the movie. the girl's storyline was a bit confusing and the egyptian vampire queen's story didn't get the attention it needed to add more intrigue to the overall story. decent solid movie, well nice try. The first half an hour from the movie was indeed awkward weird script and actor reactions the special effects are, mostly a mess. i haven't read the books but i can clearly see that this movie is made in a kind of an awkward way, the dialogues being hindered by god knows what reasons. I'd say the only actor that seems convincing is Akasha herself (Aaliyah). But everything isn't so bad, at least it's 2002 and vampires don't sparkle :P It deserves to be watched for Aaliyah only, if not for everything else. The critics have overdone it with the ratings on this movie anyway. Expand

This is a delightfully horrendous B movie. I was awaiting the appearance of Bruce Campbell the entire time. Unfortunately, he doesn't show up...maybe in the sequel. Expand

well.. just re-read the novel again after a long time after my first book of it got caught in the house fire.. and.. still.. I am extremely upset on how the movie went.. How I wish there was a remake of this with the characters "SOMEHOW" even matching of those in the Book.. seems like the only things they got right here are the names of the characters.. But not their soul or their characteristic at all.. **sigh** so sad.. If I were Anne Rice, I'd send the makers of the movie in jail for ruining 1 of the best masterpiece ever.. Expand
