Ultimately, though, the lack of story and relentless suffering make Raze appealing for hard-core genre fans only.

Raze is a brain-dead exploitation flick in which barefoot, white-tank-top-clad women beat each other to death.

Josh C. Waller’s movie is just prurient nonsense, a film only a couple of notches up from the women-in-prison films that were popular years and years ago.

There’s enough craft and intelligence at work here that you can’t dismiss Raze as meaningless sadism, but not nearly enough to make it worth the unpleasantness of actually watching it.

This ugly, dull and idiotic actioner doesn’t know if it wants be fun or grim. It winds up simply being deplorable exploitation.

Raze is a brutally monotonous fight-to-the-death-contest actioner whose novelty element — all-female competitors — is undermined by lack of imagination on every other level.

The tease of 50 gorgeous women fighting to the death has a classic grindhouse appeal, but Raze is strictly a “be careful what you wish for” proposition.

Battles are sickeningly brutal, and viewers who have no ethical problem with that may object to their sheer lack of imagination.

    "Raze" 10 Scale Rating: 2.0 (Awful) ...

The Good: A few of the fight scenes were decent enough. The violence is top notch, despite being purposely over-the-top.

The Bad: There isn't anything resembling a story here. At all. The motivations behind the antagonists were silly at best and made zero sense. Horrid acting almost all around as only Tracie Thoms was adequate. I understand what they were trying to do, but they missed the mark by a wide margin. The ending makes the entire film even more pointless than it already was. the attempted "twist" was just stupid and random.

An interesting concept of women who are kidnapped and made to fight in a bare knuckle tournament until only one survives.
This isn't a campy film with modelesque girls slapping or pulling hair either. Its tough women who are literally beating the **** out of each other. Something different and something i applaud.
However the film starts becoming repetitive and i feel more focus should have been made on the tournaments origins and its participates so that it breaks out of just being another death competition film.
