There’s never a sense the filmmakers are preaching the gospel of legalization, although they are certainly not preaching against it, either.
At its best, Rolling Papers is like a paean to old-fashioned journalism, with its curious, intrepid writers — backed by well-heeled publishers — diligently finding and piecing-together important stories in the public interest. If Dickman had really wanted to be clever, he could’ve called this movie "Potlight."
It neither glorifies nor castigates pot usage, letting consumers speak for themselves without the intrusion of an omnipresent voice.
Rolling Papers is an instructive and fun film that will keep you giggling — high or straight.
It’s full of discussion points but lets them go by undiscussed.
The documentary struggles to remain relevant throughout its short run time, and wobbles between glorification and reflection until it completely tilts over.
Dickman's film reeks of pot smoke and non-seriousness.
