It's gloriously absurd. This movie has holes in it big enough to drive the whole movie through. The laws of physics seem to be suspended here the same way as in a Road Runner cartoon.
She's (Jolie) got what no other Hollywood woman even tries for, and which is embodied among recent international stars perhaps only by Hong Kong action star Michelle Yeoh: feminismo.

This movie is a classic. Contained CGI, practical effects, shot on 35mm, great stunts, car chase scenes, gritty fights, competent direction, stunning and cold photography and great characters. The acting is superb, everyone does a fine job and of course Angelina steals the show. Her ambiguity is well played throughout the movie and the script is really well constructed, so much to keep you on your toes for the whole movie. Is it the most original spy story? No, but in a decade where apparently only super heroes and comic books movies are being made, this fine action thriller stands above other productions. The UHD Blu Ray is a must for its superb native 4K scan and impeccable audio specs. A fun action movie with a mature bond-like story without the over the top silliness and a strong female lead. Pity it didn't start a franchise a la John Wick or Bourne as the movie grossed over 290M worldwide and Angelina liked the character and was on board for a good sequel. Salt's mechanical command of action is what makes it one of the most entertaining films of a summer thin on its once-abundant variety of cheap thrills.
As a fierce superspy and mistress of many disguises, Jolie represents the one indisputably kickass element in this brisk, professionally assembled but finally shrug-inducing thriller.
Salt offers a sloppy concoction of story elements from '70s espionage classics - the sinister black ops of "Three Days of the Condor," the nuclear dread of "Fail-Safe," the political-assassination scenarios of "The Day of the Jackal."
The considerable talents of a strong supporting cast, which includes Chiwetel Ejiofor, Liev Schreiber and Andre Braugher, go untapped. The only distinguishing feature to this by-the-book thriller is Jolie, who gets pummeled as good as she pummels.
Salt is about as believable as a secret training program for military pilots consisting entirely of kangaroos in flight helmets. But it must be said that the star carries her load admirably.
Salt is one of my favorite action films Angelina Jolie of course, delivered a powerful performance and Liev Schreiber also did well in his role. Salt had me on the edge of my seat when I seen it in theaters. The rest of the audience also loved it at the end there was even some applauds. Hope to see a sequel someday!

Salt is an adventure film about spies. The plot itself is as delusional as possible, in the spirit of Tom Clancy. Good action scenes and chases are cospensing the storyline. The ending of the film is generally simply beautiful, I have not seen such idiocy before in the movie.

The entire movie builds up to the final twist ending that offers very little payoff. The movie is simply not enjoyable. It started out promising, and had the potential to be so much more, but really falls short. It has a few decent scenes, but it's definitely not worth your time.

Salt's basic and predictable plot really undermines the film's potential to do more with its lead role, Angelina Jolie. Though the star gave it all she got playing a Russian spy, she wasn't enough to save the film from its wrong pacing style and ridiculously bad plot. Being trained as a Russian spy since she was a little girl, Evenlyn Salt lived a secret second life all this time. She's married and has a dog. But she worked in the CIA, so I guess that's something. Given that Angelina Jolie played the role, we have high expectations that she'd pull it off with lots of dramatic scenes. And that's exactly what we got. From the moment that she was being tortured in North Korea to the moment when she killed her spy partner, she was great. But given the fact that every spy movies starts with an undercover life and being captured at the end, Salt adds nothing new to the genre.
