I admit that the gross out fusion comedy "Scary Movie" is terrible. However, giving its worst as its best was a bold, appropriate choice for the movie to present itself and earn credit.

Excellent movie. The best spoof ever. There's no movie like this. It mixes parody with humor to create a clever plot and well-developed characters.***!!!

Consistent laughs throughout. Shows the hallmark of good parody; pokes fun at the things we choose to ignore when we watch a particular genre.

(6.5) I'm one of the few people on the planet who watched SM2 before SM and therefore it was dubious that I would even attempt to see the second (err, that is, the first). Well, I made the right decision - the first is much better than the second. That's not to say it is classic comedy (look at the rating!) but it is a classic, take-the-piss film that makes absolutely no apologies for what it is and what it does! The Wayans are truly fearless filmmakers. They are not the long-tailed cats in a room full of rocking chairs; they are the rocking chairs in a room full of long-tailed cats. And boy, they're-a-rockin'! This completely irreverent and grotesque film doesn't leave much ground uncovered: it somehow manages to blend the hilarious satire of Flying High, the brazenness and vulgarity of American Pie, the sordid gore of Friday The 13th, the comic shocks and scares of Scream, and the riotous teen frolics of Animal House. It probably doesn't use any of these elements as successfully as those compared above, but just the fact that the makers attempt to incorporate so much life and character into so little a body, and they practically pull it off, warrants respect and acclamation. It is very gross and it is completely absurd, but it's also clever and knows exactly what it is doing. Some funny parts, but mostly gross and offensive. There are so many things wrong with it: male nudity, sterotyping, and other offensive scenes. A horror spoof can be as bad as a horror re-make.

The most mind-numbingly dreadful film I've seen since Hudson Hawk. I went to see it because it was a rainy night in a small Welsh town, and there was nothing else to do. I wish I'd stuck with the rain.

It's hard to even give this movie a "2". I've seen my share of "spoof" movies and this one ranks dead last. I assumed that since they made a sequel, it might be worth checking out. I was wrong... miserably wrong.

It's true, Scary Movie is one of the best spoofs ever. It's not comically ingenious or anything, but it is laugh-out-loud enjoyable.

I've seen the film only in hungarian translation and it was one of the best movies I've ever seen. Great!

Uh..its funny as hell the first time you see it, it has great gross humor jokes, could've been more sex scenes (WAY MORE!!), and after youve seen it three or four times, man is it annoying i wouldve rather watched some gay cartoons on freaked rabbits than watch that once i've seen it too much.

Not actually bad, despite the wholesale nose-turning that has gone on, mostly in light of that horrible sequel (I've not seen SM3). Hit or miss, but few films like this aren't, and it is more hit than miss. Good one to rent (but not from Blockbuster). Certainly one of the best films the Wayanses have made. And yes, I am aware of the competition, but it's still valid.

Pretty funny movie. A few times where I was saying "Oh brother" but most of the humor is pretty damned funny.

First time I saw this, I laughed like hell. It was very funny. Re-seeing this, it's still funny as hell, but some jokes are worn thin. The infantile humour is getting annoying as the movie progresses. Profanity and fifth-grader tiltillation is no replacement for what brought the movie down most in my opinion: a dire lack of wit in the dialogue. And by that I mean the British definition (look it up). This is probably the only good movie from the Wayanses before they lost their funny and went desperate, aka: cluttering up movies with subpar spoofs of everything under the sun. This is the only one where the subpar and good parodies are in equal number. For the rest, it's a needle in a haystack. This is probably because... well... they didn't write it. Which begs the question. Why is it that when "Scary Movie" was directed by David Zucker (I still admire the guy for the sheer comedy of "Airplane" and "Naked Gun"), it still blew? Not as funny as "American Pie" or "Road Trip" but it is one of the best spoofs ever! Hilarious rip on "The Usual Suspects" at the end left me on the ground laughing!

a pretty funny movie by the waynes brothers. its commedy is in the style of Airplane . its very goofy and off the wall but pretty damn funny. the humor is pretty crude pretty often so if sexual humor turns your head then you should pass. i thought the funniest part of the movie was the charicter Doofy . he just had me laughin on the floor.

Its humor is way too stupid to recommend, but Anna Faris leads the movie to almost victory with her sharp and hilarious performance. I give this movie 51% of a good movie.

Scary Movie is a very funny parady of the scary films. Stupid yes but one of the funniest films of the year. Couldn't stop laughing throughout the film. Very crude film and thats good.

As far as parodies go, this is among the best. Insanely funny. You are just a wicked old cruel ass if you think this movie is bad. Short and silly. One of the best of the series
