bradbJul 2, 20091This movie might have been pretty good if it had been written and directed by atheists.

ananymousJan 4, 20086This movie wasn't poorly made but I believe that the depictions of Mormon beliefs were exaggerated and it sort of gave the idea that Christianity is a better more forgiving religion even though it's not.

[Anonymous]Sep 1, 20070I don't feed tripe like this to my dog. Acting, cinematography, writing, historicity... the movie could not have failed on more cylinders if it tried

-
MS.Sep 1, 20072Theological porn for evangelical Christians who have been taught to regard the Mormon church as a cult. The movie lacks both substance and style. General Zod made me laugh, so this gets 2 points.

BarryJ.Aug 29, 200710I loved this movie! The LDS Church is launching a smear campaign to shift their follower's and American public's interest. This movie forced them to come clean about the church involvement in 150 years!

AdamRAug 29, 20070This movie will take its much deserved place in the movie world. At the bottom of the 5 for 5$ bin at Walmart.

PhilS.Aug 28, 20079Great Movie!!! This movie is historically accurate and powerful. Jon Voight gave a great performance. Politically correct it is not. I am glad I saw it before I read the reviews. Ignore the PC press. The slaughter of 120 men, women and children by a religous cult that appears respectable deserves to be examined. See the movie, Google the controversial aspects and judge for yourself.

AngelaS.Aug 26, 200710After all the years I've spent studying Mormon doctrine and the stories I've read about the massacre, I was greatly impressed. This movie brought to life the story exactly the way I imagined it as well as presenting frightening pieces of Mormon doctrine. Excellent!!!

DavidB.Aug 24, 20071You know, Jon Voight was pretty awesome, but I think his masterful performance in Transformers outshines it by a long shot. Oscar!

RDW.Aug 24, 20070The worst episode of "Gunsmoke" is far better than this. Stinks as a drama. Laughable effort. Not even worth to be call a propaganda film.

ScottF.Aug 23, 20071010 just for the courage to take on the subject matter. The modern LDS church is a force to be reckoned with, little resembles the extremest cult that Joseph Smith began. The control of the LDS church is such that members know very little about actual LDS history aside from the sanitized, white-washed version the leadership wants to present.

matta.Aug 23, 20073really, this movie is hilarious it's so bad. Mormons have had a weird history, but this is just poorly acted and poorly written. The 40 scores both seem overly generous considering both reviewers clearly hated the film. I would say they both gave it about a 30 at best. See only to be entertained by the poor execution.

40Shot in a style that might be termed Americana gravitas, September Dawn has the ham-fisted lyricism of political ads and pharmaceutical commercials. The schematic script is further burdened with heavy ironies and hackneyed dialogue.
-
40The didactic presentation, grim speechifying and tacked-on love story all signify a less-than-healthy regard for the audience's intelligence.
-
30It's a soap opera posing as moral outrage.
