So what if the showoff climax deserts depth for dazzle. As the first Asian hero in Marvel history, former stuntman Simu Liu is action poetry in motion and his epic starring debut kicks off the fall film season on a rousing high note.
Shang-Chi and the Legend of the Ten Rings is an origin story, and director Destin Daniel Cretton, working from script he wrote alongside Dave Callaham and, Andrew Lanham did a masterful job telling a story that’s not only Asian-American but a Marvel movie at the same time.

I loved this movie! Everything that came from Marvel in this phase apart from this movie has been hot garbage. I don't know if comparing it to anything before it will do justice to it.
The music was amazing, and the cinematography was amazing. The story was great and the characters for once felt like characters. The jokes often fall flat, but well we can look over that. Action is enough to keep you wanting for more and all characters are worth rooting for. Sadly marvel's movies don't feel like movies anymore, but this movie is something I can go back to. All major characters have their own things going on. There is development, conversations about their ideas, and their own battles to fight and win.
Compare this to any of older MCU movies, well I'd give it a 7/10. I still love the cinematography and music, the story falls kind of flat when they stick to their known marvel formula. It's redundant but at the same time new. Within Phase 4, this is the ONLY movie I'd suggest watching. (Spider man was only good because of the nostalgia trap)

Featuring funny and endearing moments amid beautifully choreographed action sequences, Shang-Chi excels as a story about family and how it can be twisted by grief. Simu Liu, Awkwafina, and Tony Leung bring multi-faceted characters to life and, despite pacing issues, it delivers a hugely entertaining step in the right direction for Asian representation.
It remembers to have fun. It’s a kick to watch — often literally — and the kind of popcorn movie summer is made for.
While its disparate elements don’t meld together as smoothly as they should, they do, in the end, add up to a superhero movie fresh and fun enough to feel worth a spin.
Destin Daniel Cretton, director of Just Mercy and Short Term 12, continues Marvel’s reasonably successful practices of unlikely hires from the indie sector. The dialogue is snappy. The action has real kinetic clatter. What a strange industry this has become.
The film uses the superficial markers of Asian culture and filmmaking without presenting anything unique in its Marvel take on that tradition.
This movie was really amazing and I thoroughly enjoyed it. There were captivating scenes with great visualization as well as a story that was laced with family dynamics and learning deeper truths that I found captivating.

Не являясь прям поклонником фильмов Marvel и начитавшись отзывов, оттягивал знакомство с фильмом "Шан-Чи и легенда десяти колец". Но вот наконец посмотрел и хочу сообщить своё мнение.
Ну скажу сразу, фильм детский. Ну вот скажем, чем занимаются взрослый мужик и женщина ночью в постели? Правильно! Поют в караоке. В фильме нет ни крови, ни ссадин. Бойцы похожи на резиновых болванчиков. Отскакивают ото всех поверхностей без малейшего вреда для себя.
Ну боёвка не плохая, если нравятся такие фильмы как "Дом летающих кинжалов", "Крадущийся тигр, затаившийся дракон" или подобные.
Сюжет фильма лично мне показался странным. Опуская подробности, сын предаёт отца ради совершенно незнакомых людей и нас хотят заставить этому сыну сочувствовать.
Теперь о так сказать наполнении фильма. Итак это буквально клон "Чёрной пантеры". Есть скрытая ото всего человечества "деревня" - типа Ваканда. В ней естественно имеются супертехнологии не доступные цивилизации. Даже подбор актёров как в той же Пантере, только вместо негров азиаты.
Резюмирую. Фильм может понравиться детям. Но не более того.

The movie was entertaining but too predictable for my liking. It lacked soul. It was different and a nice addition to the marvel universe. Post credits were also pretty nice. Looking forward to the next one and hoping for some improvements in screenwriting!

I was so excited when the trailers came out, all of them were amazing. However, the actual movie did not surprise me much. It felt generic, like other action movies, for example, fighting on moving vehicles, the hero got his powerups at the "exact" moment when his people needed him. And most of the dialogues were flat, I had trouble getting to know the characters to get to root for them. Maybe that I got my expectation way up high, but whatever, I was in for the fight scene, I got what I came for. Tony Leung's performance is amazing though.

Baru saja menonton film ini di Disney+ Indonesia, karena tidak sempat menonton di bioskop (tentu saja karena pandemi). Dan yang saya takutkan benar. Film yang menjadi pembuka fase keempat MCU ini benar-benar mengecewakan. Marvel kini benar-benar membuat MCU tidak berkembang, mungkin karena ekspektasi saya terlalu ****, tapi saya coba ulangi dengan ekspetasi terendah dan menonton ulang film ini dua kali pun rasanya masih sama: film ini terlalu konyol dan terlalu kartun. Saya ingat, perasaan ini muncul ketika saya melihat film Captain Marvel, meskipun dibintangi oleh aktris pemenang Oscar, tapi ada yang miss dari segi cerita dan gambar. Begitu juga dengan film ini. Beda ketika saya menonton film Eternals. Meskipun durasinya panjang, saya merasa tertarik untuk tetap menonton karena pengenalan cerita, gambar, **** editingnya tidak terlalu over.
