By riffing off two iconic American narratives of the last 35 years, "The Godfather" and "The Sopranos," it has changed the template for animation, making a timely film that still deals with timeless children's themes.
This dazzling CGI feature by DreamWorks Animation appropriates the vivid undersea psychedelia of "Finding Nemo," though in contrast to that movie, the father-son parable here is just an excuse to burlesque "The Godfather" for the 100th time.

Best cartoon movie ever. The problem with this film is that isnt for children. They dont get any single message of this movie. Every scene has a point and the hip hop culture stands out exemplary. They touched LGBTQ, need for fame, golden diggers, class segregation and much more taboo things. But yes world wasn't ready for this movie. Masterpiece!

This is the best animated movie of all time! There are lots of visual effects and funny jokes that make the movie great! I could watch it over and over again! 10 out of 10!

Noisy, garish, cluttered, simplistic and often dark in content, it nevertheless sings and preens and jokes and tugs at you with such persistent verve that, exhausted, you give in.
It does not have as much invigorating freshness as audiences have come to expect in computer animation.
The film has a hectic, sitcom air and a full-of-himself hero who is as likely to grate as to ingratiate.
Falls prey to the lazy assumption that a parade of whiz-bang CGI will cover for the absence of a muscular story.
Joyless, soulless.
Not every animation studio is immaculate. While DreamWorks made some great CGI films in "Antz" and the first two "Shrek" films, they unfortunately couldn't quite keep the hot streak alive. All told, however, "Shark Tale" is still a relatively entertaining film that's well-animated and considerably funny. All things considered, "Shark Tale" is worth checking out. Just don't expect anything on the level on the "Shrek" films.

For what it is, it isn't that bad. Basically it's Fresh Prince just using fish. It's clearly aimed at a young audience. As long as you don't take it to seriously, it does have a few moments where it is decent. Overall: A decent kids film that is a bit enjoyable, but is really nothing special for adults (aside from the LONG list of celeb cameos.)

Easily one of Dreamwork's weakest animated movies. While the cast is impressive, the story is simultaneously boring and over-complicated. This hazy mesh ultimately makes the movie forgettable at best and confoundingly annoying at worst.
