Funny. Very likable/unlikable characters and some hilarious moments. It's like karate kid (og)/rocky, etc, in that it's an underdog-triumphs-kinda deal, not the greatest movie ever made, but I don't think that's what was intended. A lot of 'critics' apparently have little concept of what a 'fun time' is at the movies; they seem obsessed with comparing everything to Citizen Kane, looking for clever put-downs, and strictly following the 'critics handbook' which makes them waaay more cliche than they believe this movie to be. Did I like this movie? Yes. Did I laugh? A lot. Good production values, a great cast, and laugh-out-loud script. Highly recommended. Expand

If Michael Moore can be trusted, Kirk(Jay Baruchel) would stand a better chance of impressing Molly(Alice Eve) if he went through a managerial training program at Taco Bell rather than improving himself by taking aviation lessons. The TSA agent wants to be a top gun like Molly's ex, but being Big Enchilada at a TB might be the more lucrative option, since Moore reports in the documentary "Capitalism: A Love Story" that commercial airline pilots are overworked and grossly underpaid. His future vocation is out of the fast food industry's league. This film, selling the ultimate male fantasy: the geek gets the goddess(John Hughes was a realist), plays like "Nottting Hill" with a Judd Apatow sensibility. Agnate to the protagonist, "She's Out of My League" itself feels like the five that Stainer(T.J. Miller) pegs him as, so this uneven, but mostly winning film overcompensates with gross-out humor to close the numerical gap in a concentrated effort to remain in the company of consensus ha-ha filmic tens such as Apatow's "Knocked Up" and The Farrely Brothers' "There's Something About Mary". For instance, the filmmaker thinks he's scoring points with a poorly staged scene centered around the after-effects of premature ejaculation. It deserves a demerit point because Kirk could easily have covered the evidence with his shirt. On the other hand, admittedly, the other raunchy set-piece: Kirk's "haircut", gets the point back. It's almost touching how far Devon(Nate Torrance) will go for Kirk in the name of friendship. Almost. But the scene's effectiveness is beside the point in a film that features two charismatic actors with enough chemistry to stay in the romantic comedy major leagues without the assistance of a dog with indiscriminating taste, and male enhancement trickeration. "She's Out of My League" is a "chin-chin"(Kirk says this as he clinks flutes with Molly on a dinner date) to hopeless romantics who are rewarded with a patriarchal wish fulfillment that has no bearing on real life. This is the kind of movie that professional critics just don't 'get' but regular people enjoy a lot. Not going to win an Oscar, but solidly funny and charming. Reminded me a bit of "Something about Mary". If you are in the mood to laugh and see a romantic comedy, you could do worse.

It was my girlfriends turn to pick the movie and I, honestly, went into see this expecting to, at best, tolerate it. Imagine my surprise when I found myself cracking up over and over again. I laughed as much and as heartily watching this film as much or more than I had as any I'd seen in quite some time. Albeit some of the jokes you could see coming miles away there were quite a few that still had me roaring. Expand

Honestly, I don't understand where the extremely negative criticism is coming from. Yes, this movie isn't the greatest movie of all time, but regardless of this fact, it has a lovable odd couple that you can't help but root for the whole while. I feel that Alice and Jay have great on-screen compatibility, and despite the crude humor of this movie: I laughed out loud...A LOT...I felt the 'bros' were hilarious and Kirk's dysfunctional family not to mention ex-girlfriend from hell were great embellishments to a pretty funny movie. I really really liked this movie, and I felt like it was a little boost for all the underdogs out there. How can a movie full of laughs and some encouragement be ranked so low? Expand

Ok, so the message here is parity be damned, and if you see yourself as a 'four' or whatever number, you're a dork. you should see yourself for who you are, not define yourself by your pecs or how close together your eyes are, or for you gals, if you have pert, big enuf breasts. it aint chekov, but it's a message. as for the rest of it, the overall quality of it, it39;s not only sophomoric, it's sophomoric done poorly. if you like this movie, you're a poopeyhead. This film isn't bad.It could have been better and that's it's biggest weakness. Many scenes play well , but I few are just lame as can be. I wasn't expecting a whole lot from the film , and based on that it was pretty much an OK film.

Honestly I was shocked. This is a very very funny movie with incredibly engaging leads. I'm not sure what film the people who have been giving it a 0 and 1 watched but I laughed the whole way through (this coming from a 25 year old male). Jay Baruchel always shines (Knocked Up and Tropic Thunder) but this movie he out does himself. The real power of the movie is the strength of its side characters though. And it doesn't hurt that Alice Eve (the girl in the movie) is incredibly beautiful. I laughed the whole time and its become my favorite movie to come out this year. See this instead of wasting your money of other films such as Alice and Wonderland (which I considered to be awful). Expand

I like how people rate this movie a 0, as if it's worse than other films that were a complete turd such as Ecks Vs Sever, Gigli, etc..this is a funny movie - of course about a pairing of two people who, according to the superficial and shallow, should never happen. lots of 'guy humor' but the guy making disney movie references kept me rollin.

Jim Field Smith's directorial debut "She's out of My League" is a conventional rom-com that lifts it from the pits of rom-com hell by the amazing humor, charm, and lowbrow wit of its script and of its characters (most especially T.J. Miller as Stainer). "She's out of My League" is the kind of comedy that hits hard than lets you relax than hits you hard again than lets you enjoy the rest of the ride without being smack over the head all the time with vulgar and immature behavior. On the part of Kirk's friends however, this movie is very insightful into the life of an utter and complete loser (much like I use to be). Who by luck or an act of God ends up with a gorgeous and voluptuous blonde-haired woman (every man's dream, don't deny it). What makes this film so good and so much fun to watch is that you are not routing for a guy who can bag gorgeous babes. You are routing for a loser who has just bagged his first gorgeous babe in his entire life that is why you are routing for him. You want Kirk and Molly to be together you want them to do something romantic like drive off into the sunset or fly off into the sunset, or walk towards a sunset oh hell I just want them to walk towards something luminous setting in the distance. I don't know why it just seems it would fit with this films theme of finding love in strange places and looks do not really matter. Kirk is like my best friend Nathan mixed with allot of me to make one very shy, nervous, apologetic little man you like Kirk from the very start and form the very start you also hate his friends who vast knowledge of women is easily a 1.1 on the female knowledge scale and that's if you add up all three of theses ignorant fools theses dung sacks wouldn't know a good women if she walked up to one of them and **** slapped them square across the face It's very sad so sad is the fact that one of them is married and still and some comes out a bigger loser than Kirk was in the beginning(Nate Torrence as Devon). The main point of this movie is love cannot be determine by what number you are or by what you look like, in my opinion, is the truest statement of love. Love is fair, love is unfair, and love is tough. Love is soft love is many things. However, rarely if ever is love judgmental or unforgiving. That is the message that this film is trying to get across and thanks to careful writing, solid performances from the cast of talented actors and sly direction "She's out of my League" is not only one of the best comedies of the year but also one of the sweetest films of the year. Even if at some points, it does not seem that way. I loved this movie I loved everything about this movie even the vulgarity and immature behavior of Kirk's friends they grow on you and there not much different from my own friends so I am use to there behavior. This is such a heartfelt film even if it masked with constant vulgarity and cartoonishness the heart of this film shines through the grit and the grim and glows brightly. "She's out of my League" is one of the most hilarious comedies I have seen since "I, Love you Man" and in the ways of comedy it takes allot to make me laugh I am very picky about my comedy I hate almost all of Adam Sandlerâ Expand

One of the funniest comedies this year. The jokes are fun and witty and all the characters are well developed and funny. Even though a little obvious here and there, it manages to keep you interested and laughing until the end.

She 's Out of My League is a romance-comedy but with dick jokes. In the lead role, it's Jay Baruchel who you might know from Knocked Up and this year's How to Train Your Dragon. Baruchel finally gets a lead role that he deserves, problem? Yes, he's exactly how his on-screen friends describe him, a guy that isn't attractive but more cute that girls want to take him out but never get down and dirty. In some ways, it works for him but sometimes it's also his disadvantage. Alice Eve plays the beautiful lead lady Molly that decides to date Baruchel's Kirk because she's fed up of the six pack abs, douche bag ego. Eve is good but you don't get to know her character as well as you want to. I particularly liked Nate Torrence, who is hilarious and reminiscent of 30 Rock's Kenneth and The Hangover's Alan without the beard. Overall, the film works to a certain extent. Expand

Very good, sweet, and funny movie. The characters were all great and quirky, and were really funny when put together. Perhaps many of the elements have been used before in other movies but everything fit together great, this movie was just fun. It is an easy movie to relate to in one way or another which is what makes it so funny at times, I had a smile on my face through most of the movie and busted out laughing at several parts. If you want to see a movie that leaves you with a smile on your face because you were pleasantly surprised, watch it! Expand

I loved this movie. It was so funny and incredibly sweet. One of the best romantic comedies I have ever seen. The leads played by Jay Baruchel and Alice Eve had amazing chemistry Eve's sweetness and hotness were an unbelievably heady mix. The man-pals were hilarious, especially Miller's character, Stainer. The song, She's So High Above Me, that played in the background during a 'date' montage was the perfect choice. Will watch this movie again and again. Expand

Very, very funny and never dull. Follows the "romantic comedy" formula, but the characters are likable and believable and there are a ton of good one-liners. One of those movies you want to watch twice because there are too many funny lines.

After the first five seconds, I knew this one would suck big time. And it did. The whole idea of the nerdy guy with girl troubles should be expelled from Hollywood. It is not funny. Why do these movies get made ? Absolutely horrible. The voice of the main male character alone makes you run for the exit.

Not bad, not bad at all. Well with a geeky man like Jay Baruchel and a smoking hotty like Alice Eve how could it go wrong?? Well it really didn't go wrong at all but we all knew it wouldn't be up for an Emmy either. This was a funny/cute movie that caught the attention of men who wanted something to look at and woman something to think was cute.

I like fairy tales, but not this kind, please. Jay Baruchel (Kirk) is probably being chased by hot girls in real world, because he's somehow rich & famous and things like that, but this annoying whiny (below) average Joe he is playing in this movie ... not a chance. Movie has few jokes and some charm, but it needed some serious reality check edit (or better lead role casting)

A funny, romantic comedy with a good sense of humour. Although some parts are really pretentious I felt like the movie had its moments and I could enjoy it alongside my bucket full of popcorn. I wouldn't turn the television off if this would be running.

A very worn-out genre but She's Out of My League gets it just about right. Jay Baruchel is very believable in his 'geeky' role but still very amicable. Alice Eve gets her character just about right too. Not annoying but still obviously a little out of the protagonist's reach in normal life. This film was surprisingly enjoyable and makes me regret not watching it in the cinema. I haven't seen any other Jim Field Smith works but would like to check some out. Seems like he has a talent for comedies. Expand
