HuntleyR.Apr 9, 20093A story completely lacking in originality or emotional depth, Victor, played with robotic exhibition by Adam Beach, goes in search of his father who abandoned him when he was a boy. The jokes barely evoke a chuckle, the flashbacks are clumsily positioned and poorly executed, and if the wooden acting doesn't put you to sleep, the sappy dialogue will.

40Alexie, who adapted his own novel, bears responsibility for the movie's ham-fisted treatment of racial-identity issues, its tiresome jokes and the dated, throbbing-guitar soundtrack.
