I'm an action junkie, and this movie was made for moviegoers like me! I was looking forward to Venom to hit the silver screen, and was not disappointed. But I was surprised that my favorite character was actually Sandman. The effects on him were amazing! Oscar-worthy. Definitely worth my $10 bucks. I'm getting this on dvd for sure!

Totally more interesting, action-packed and dazzling than the first two, but as a drama is where it doesn't work greatly. Spider-Man 3 may have a mild issue with an identity crisis where it tries to be scary and/or funny, but it's a blockbuster worth catching!

It is a great movie with a lot of action and creates a lot of different emotions by it's development. The perfect closing for the sequel and is going to be on the top 3 of the blockbusters of this summer. A good movie if you watch it with a positive attitude.

Great movie , but they just dont make comic movies like they used to. No real artistic creativity. Tim Burton should create more of them. He almost did Superman returns and it was gonna be great, but he then turned it down for some reason.

It's opening is its weakest point, with the characters acting irrationally or being downright stupid, and the plot setups being completely contrived (the evil black costume literally falls from space, and is never given an origin or motive - it's just a mean little puddle of slime). Once action sequences are great, the humor is refreshing, and computer graphics are beautiful (really - Sandman's first empowered appearance is one of the most beautiful computer effects in the history of film), but the drama is all hammy and silly. Also, with three villains, two love interests and a darkening hero on its hands, the movie has too much material to pace itself properly, leading to a disappointing climax. Fans of the comics should be warned that the beloved Venom isn't done justice, not by the script, not by the terrible actor they cast, and not by whatever genius decided Eddie Brock should sprout pointy teeth when unmasked, and that he should unmask every two minutes. Definitely see this in the theatre, though; it's the best way to appreciate the effects, and to lose yourself in its murky atmosphere. Expand

I liked it. It was fast paced, but easy to keep up with. Character development was pretty good but could have been much better with some of the new characters to get people who don't already know them up to speed. It's definitely different than the first two movies in terms of style but still very good.

A very satisfying development of the Spider Man character overall, despite the jaded critiques of the ADD critics. Sandman's turmoil worked as a reflection of Spidernan's angst, and brought into light the factor of fate and how much one has control over ones destiny. I really enjoyed this movie.

Spider Man 3 despite what some critics have said is a good film. Sure it had its problems, mainly the length of the film and a bit too many subplots. I think this is most important in an era of movies which overloads us with vanilla. You really got a sense of Peter's sensitivities, his hurts, loves, and the dark parts of his soul, mainly his quest for revenge that only only manifest against his uncles killer but also a perceived unrequited love. I'm happy they have made this film and do not think it was a mistake, nor a sell out riding on the coattails of the previous two. There were parts in which it felt scattered, but the humor I thought was taken up a notch and it felt more like a comic book story with some class. Black and white strong messages, inspiring heroics, exciting action, and engaging drama. My main specific complaints would be, as aforementioned, it was scattered at times. As well, one of the villains needed to be a little stronger, the last fight should have been longer and more climactic, and the ending should have a little bit more story wrapping...such as a wedding or at least his proposal finally happening. Also, venom should have been seen as more evil in the end. I thought the story with Harry was good...but him turning evil, then good, then evil again, seemed a little out of place. But the ending was good Overall, I would say this had the makings of being a good super-hero story ending...and further films may mess it up. However, it may give a chance to make an even better ending. Expand

The good stuff is awesome. But the stuff that sucks, really sucks. Sam Raimi adds on a little too much which weighs the film down from being a perfect 10 to a decent 7. The battle scenes are stunning and thrilling, and Venom proves to be a great villain but movie should've focused on him.

And after spending the entire 2nd movie sulking and lacking any redeeming qualities, Harry really is brought back in the 3rd movie as a very likable character. The scenes involving him and Peter are where the movie's at its best. Then there's the dark Spider-Man, also really high point of the movie, and there's the awesome Venom.... There's just too much great stuff to count. It does seem a little convoluted at first but it eventually evens itself out and ends up creating a very fun, action-packed movie that definitely outdoes the first 2 in almost every way imaginable. The special effects are excellent! and the movie is loaded with them, I also found the story to be well writen as well. Once again afew lose ends. Overall this is the 2nd best Spiderman movie.

It's to the writers credit that you find yourself caring more about the personal peoblems of Peter, Mary and Harry then whether Sandman trashes the city. Performances from all main protagonists are solid. Special mention to Thomas Haden Church's understated Sandman and James Franco who excells now that he's given a more substantial role. Any problems with this film seem to lie with the confused direction of Sam Raimi. Half way through Spidey dons the black suit, changes character and goes on a rampage. Things start to get interesting. This is completly spoiled as Raimi goes overboard on the "comedy". The bits with Parker strutting down the street, eyeing up girls and dancing like a cross between john Travolta and David Brent just made me cringe. There's a paradox here and it doesn't work; Is this meant to be a darker Spiderman film (as the pre film hype would have us believe) or a comedy? Is the black Spiderman meant to be nasty and dangerous with attitude or a pervy village idiot? It's as if Raimi wanted to make a darker, grittier Spiderman but chickened out half way through. Another black mark against Yankee Doodle Raimi is yet more shamefully blatent flag waving near the end of the film. Yes, we know Spiderman's American we don't need it shoving in our faces. So, in conclusion this is an entertaining yet flawed film but not as bad as some people say. Expand

The pamphlet's thesis was that to truly serve the Lord, Christians have to say goodbye to those things in the world they love, just as Peter Parker, in order to effectively fight crime and save the world (or at least New York City), must give up his beloved Mary Jane. Since great drama often involves having to make impossible Sophie's choices like this, the first Spider-Man movie still stands as the cream of Sam Raimi's trilogy. It tells us that you can't fulfill your destiny and STILL have MJ's love at the same time; Spider-Man 2, seen by most critics and fans as the apex of the series, counters that you CAN. Spider-Man 3's thesis is that, yes, it IS possible...but it's tough work. All the debate about whether this installment is overlong, overstuffed and/or has two or three villains too many has obscured the fact that, even more than Spideys 1 and 2, Spidey 3 is a relationship movie front and center; lose the action sequences, colorful costumes and mysterious black goo, and you've got a bigger chick flick than Pretty Woman. The ups and downs of Peter's and MJ's romance are discussed at great length and in great detail, with not one but two third parties around to provide dramatic conflict...and, most revealingly of all, the movie's final shot is NOT of Spidey in action but of...well, see for yourself. Co-scenarist Alvin Sargent's previous credits (Ordinary People, Julia) clearly show that he knows his way around material like this, but the occasionally forced results, such as an extended restaurant sequence in which MJ (Kirsten Dunst) tries to share a heartbreaking professional setback with Peter (Tobey Maguire) and every contrivance in the world including a Clouseau-like head waiter combines to keep the message uncommunicated, show that Sargent isn't quite working at his peak here. (And in regards to another subplot, someone should remind Sargent and co-writers Sam and Ivan Raimi that amnesia, short-term memory or whatever you want to call it, was officially outlawed by Congress after it was used in a Gomer Pyle episode in 1967.) More successful is the movie's depiction of Peter's increasingly excessive pride in being Spider-Man, which morphs into hubris and then egomania. This is depicted powerfully enough that the comic-book McGuffin (a spiny, tar-like substance from the skies with characteristics common to the Alien, the Beast with Five Fingers and the Id Monster) doesn't seem entirely necessary to explain it. Whether three villains in one movie is or isn't a case of oversplat is best left discussed elsewhere, but it is what it is, and Thomas Haden Church, Topher Grace and James Franco are more than satisfactory, with Church very affectingly haunted as Sandman; all three have interesting and convincing dimensions and motivations, but then Spider-Man's nemeses have always had more gray areas than a shelf full of Jodi Picoult novels. Special effects are more than worth your ten bucks (Sandman's transformation in particular is memorably majestic and tragic) and the climactic punch-and-spin-out over the city delivers the goods, even if the unnecessary inclusion of reporters telling us what we're already seeing is hokey enough for a 1940s serial but has no place here. Spidey 3 isn't perfect, and yes, it is overall the weakest of the three, but it's interestingly offbeat and ambitious. In The Summer Of The Third Part That's Less Than The Other Two (Either Together Or Individually), if you have to choose to spend your entertainment dollars on either Spidey or Sparrow, far better to get bitten on the hand than stabbed in the back. Though it has its emotionally heightened, strong moments, and visual splendour to spare, these are the last yellow spots on a rotten banana. 'Spider-Man 3' lacks the honest emotion that made the first two so great, as well as developing the too-many-villains disease that makes the plot wear thin before your eyes. I recently rewatched Spider-Man 3 (4 days ago, to be accurate), and I have to say: the movie was quite underrated...I'll give the people reading this a minute or so to wrap that around their heads............................................................okay, minute over.
Now, this would be the part where I put, "Some Spoilers Below". However, given that Spider-Man 3 came out in 2007...let's move on.
Sandman was arguably the most superlative villain in the movie. The revelation that he was actually Uncle Ben's killer was certainly an effective plot twist. I truly felt that I could relate to him as a character. Furthermore, I believe that his final scene and "death" was the most emotional section of the entire film.
Venom wasn't that badly portrayed either. I thought Topher Grace was a decent choice to play Eddie Brock (unlike a multitude of Spider-Man fans...). In addition, the Venom/Symbiote suit was also well translated from the comics into the big screen, in my opinion. Unfortunately, I found Harry Osborn to have been basically "tacked on" to the movie. The "New" Goblin's fight with Spider-Man felt utterly pointless (not to mention, he pulled 4 heel/face turns throughout the course of the movie). Other than that though, Spider-Man 3 was a good movie.
I actually found the "Emo Peter Parker" to be pretty amusing. In fact, I thought that was the best (and most daring) portrayal of Peter in the entire Sam Raimi trilogy.
So, while Spider-Man 3 (and I cannot stress this enough) is definitely NOT the greatest Spider-Man movie of all time, it is absolutely not a bad film either.

As much as this movie was had going for it, it had just as much bringing it down. First off, There was too much Too much Sandman and not enough Goblin and Venom(whose supposed to be the main villain). I know i'm in the minority here but I enjoyed Topher Grace's performance as Eddie Brock, I just felt that his adaption wasn't particularly treated fairly. I mean, we get that the character was forced onto the director by the studio but at the same time, why on earth would you so badly mistreat one of the most popular characters in Spider-Man lore? Not to mention give him maybe 5 minutes of total screen time. Overall to me, Venom felt really shoe horned into the film which was the result of Sony pushing Raimi to include him in the movie despite Raimi not wanting him to in the first place. That led to him not having enough screen time which resulted to there not being enough character depth to convincingly convey the reasons why he hated Peter/Spider-Man so much. Like i said, I didn't mind Topher's performance as Eddie Brock not being a huge muscular guy because I felt that properly represented a nemesis for Peter Parker, One that was simply like an 'evil' version of himself. Since Spider-Man 3 wrapped and Spider-Man 4 was cancelled, Spider-Man has been rebooted twice. The Amazing Spider-Man brought heart and potential with different and I thought more welcomed adaption to the character but unfortunately like Spider-Man 3, it fell victim to Sony's reach exceeding it's grasp. While time will tell if we ever get to see a proper adaption of Spider-Man, as it stands Spider-Man 3 did a fine just of wrapping up the Raimi series, Despite its faults. Expand

I really do enjoy Harry as the goblin in my opinion as it creates a lot of tension between Peter and Harry as they are (or were) best friends. Peter and MJ finally have a romance, unlike the previous Spider Man movies and Jameson is always funny. The visuals are also great.

However, the story has so many plot points that it becomes convoluted and all of them could have been their own movie. You have the Sandman being the killer of Uncle Ben, the new goblin and his conflict with Peter and the Symbiote which creates Emo Peter, Peter breaking up with MJ, and Venom. Emo Peter was just unneeded and poorly done, instead of showing conflict with the symbiote, he appears to have a good time until he punches MJ and realized what he has done.

Venom was completely underutilized. When he showed up, he looked great, but the vast majority of the time he spoke, he was unmasked. Why? He looked great, why do we need to see Grace's face instead of VENOM? He is so far Spider Man's most anticipated villain to make an appearance on the big screen and when we got it, it was for 10 minutes. Disappointing.

Even though it's the weakest Spider Man movie, i enjoy watching Spider Man 3. I feel like it's a well made movie as it has good things like the acting, direction, action sequences and the visuals. However, because of having too many villains, the plot was convoluted and ALL of them could have made their own movie.

Compared to the first two movies, this one had a different feel. It seemed like the actors, at some points, were working the lines just a little too much. Over the top, If I may.

Despite some of the cliche lines, I did love the portrayal of the internal battle of good vs. evil. The internal struggle is something we can all relate to and it was neat to see a superhero have some common struggles.

Ok so this movie is my least favorite. It's plot had too much going on, humor was great, visuals were great but not memorable. This movie tried to do too much, its plot was easily guessable and it wasn't my favorite part of the movie. Honestly, its not worth watching, especially the ending either. I decided to give it a 7 because Peter Parker was still Peter Parker

This review contains spoilers, click expand to view. Don't kill me but I liked this movie. What I think pissed every off was just the dancing, emo Peter Parker. Now people will probably say "but it so goofy" and to that I say, so is Willem Defoe talking to himself in a mirror saying to attack the heart. Now this is not the best spider-man movie and never will be but it's not as bad as everyone says Expand

This film does have a few flaws, such as Topher Grace's Venom portrayal, sorta to many songs & dances, and lastly a disappointing ending. But it does have it's good moments such as, James Franco's portrayal as Harry, Cristian Hayden Church's portrayal as the Sand Man, J.K Simmons's James Jonah Jameson performance is entertaining, and lastly the fighting is the best thing about this movie. Because the fighting is better then the first two films. I honestly sorta love this movie, due to it's awesome music, Christian Hayden Church's Sand Man portrayal, James Franco's Harry Osborn portrayal J.K Simmons's portrayal as J.Jonah Jameson , The opening of this movie showing us footage of the first 2 films before starting is pretty cool in my opinion. And lastly the fighting it's so well done and choreographed. P.S anyone that says this film is bad should watch The Amazing Spider-Man 2 then try to say that. Expand

While spider man 3 isnt as good as the other two, and has peter parker dancing like a fool, and a terrible venom, I enjoyed the rest of it, and how spider man struggles with his powers.

A sense of strain envelops the proceedings this time around. One can feel the effort required to suit up one more time, come up with fresh variations on a winning formula and inject urgency into a format that basically needs to be repeated and, due to audience expectations, can't be toyed with or deepened very much.

Overly long and complicated, it's packed with crowd-pleasing moments and satisfactorily wraps up the trilogy - without quite capturing the magic of the first two installments.
