Strange Wilderness has three bad comic ideas for every good joke, and it botches many of those, too, thanks to slack comic timing and a nonexistent grasp of storytelling basics. But just when the flop-sweat stench is about to become unbearable, Strange Wilderness stumbles upon an uproarious, laugh-out moment, and suddenly it's tolerable again for another few minutes.
  2. Aside from the waste of a talented cast, the only thing that really caught my attention was the tomblike silence of the audience--at least until the bong jokes started.
  3. This one has the feel of being penned on rolling papers, with room to spare.

What rankles isn’t the gross-out humor or the verbal non sequiturs, which are expected, even welcome, in this sort of movie. It’s the smug sense of entitlement -- that of intoxicated dweebs tittering endlessly and obnoxiously at their own supposed cleverness. “Harold and Kumar Go to White Castle” is the gold standard in this genre. Strange Wilderness is a counterfeit bill.

No snob to low-brow ridiculousness when it’s actually unexpected, I’ll admit to being amused exactly once, when Zahn gets deep-throated by a gigantic prop turkey who, despite the mouthful, keeps on flapping.

Obviously the product of minimal effort by all parties involved, Strange Wilderness is a slovenly, slapped-together stoner comedy.

It's a movie that manages to grow more idiotic by the scene.

The movie really is underrated. I think it's the same case here as it is with humour in many Monty Python movies/episodes some people just don't get it. The scene with the laughing shark at the end of the movie is epic. Even 4 years after I saw it for the first time it still makes me laugh more than any other comedy movie since. Expand

Great movie me and my friends enjoyed it so a lot. Why is that pink thong running so fast?

I can say with total confidence that the only people who would enjoy this movie are the ones whose lives consist of smoking pot, drinking beer, smoking pot, peeing on people's couches, and smoking pot. Worst movie I have ever seen. Funny how they leave the shark part until the very end; I bet they knew they'd have a lot more people walking out if they'd slotted it in in the beginning. Expand

If they really meant that the ratings steeply decline, I'm afraid that is what happens here. But I don't think that one animal can truly turn the show around now, because with a script that has no life to it. And a director who weakly presents the performances, this is definitely steeply declining by its swindling touch and hard follow-through plot. Difficult to grasp, and absolutely boring and unfocused story. Expand
