"Terminator 2: Judgement Day" is a rare blockbuster that overly exceeds its prequel with mind blowing action, unforgettable scenes, and deep character relationship / development. It is a simple masterpiece.

This is a prime example of a grade-A action film, it's got drama, family values, action moments with meaning which aren't just random "spur of the moment" scenes added for filler, each scene has a reason and direction with where they're going with the film as a whole. The soundtrack, my god the soundtrack, the instrumentals are completely memorable, and i bet the intense intro song will be pounding in your head days after you've finished watching it. It's one of the most memorable and highly underrated, from the looks of the critic scores on here, action movies of all time. Expand

How can someone say this is overrated? There's no room for improvement. It was short and sweet, well thought out, epic, logical, engrossing. It had soft spots, action, tons of character development, just too many great scenes to mention. Terminator 2 is satisfying, like a good meal that you never get tired of eating.

T2 is the best out of all the Terminator movies. What we have here is a masterfully made movie that tell the story of a future war fought in the past with not one but two terminators. Model 101 (Arnold) is the good guy and the cool T-1000 (Robert Patrick) is the seemingly invincible bad guy. The movie has suspense, action, and even some humor. T2 defines what classic movies are.

Landmark movie in computer special effects. Schwarznegger's effective in the role of Shane like figure, and the film is fascinating for relegating an already highly futuristic android to obsolete status in face of even newer hightech threat, the T-1000. Still, Linda Hamilton's grubby performance is wearying and action in the final segment is simply bloated, shapeless, and dumb. The kid's annoying too. Though the first Terminator is relatively a lowbudget fare it's a model of tight construction and execution. T2 is the Titanic among action movies. After a while it simply sinks. Expand

This is by far the best movie ever made. It has everything and so much more. The effects are the best ever made, incredible story, actors that blows you away, and the saddest ending in history. Makes me cry everytime. T2 is the king of movies. Period.

Back in '91, this film was not released - it bloody exploded! I remember it well... the hype was HUGE and it lived right up to it (quite a rarity nowadays!) What I like and respect most about T2 is that it didn't merely try to recreate the first. Sure, familiar elements in plot structure, characters and sets are all there, but Cameron and co. go way beyond that. They didn't settle for just making your archetypal sequel. With the obviously priceless aid of groundbreaking sfx, they created a phenomenal sequel that the punters flocked to. Even those who hadn't seen the first were rabid about seeing this film. You have to call it masterful filmmaking (and, of course, marketing). In purely critical terms, it's not as good a film as the first. It's basically popcorn-cinema, but with a chewier centre than usual. In purely technical terms, it's one of the best of its kind and a film that will long live in the annals of movie history. It's one of those films that even if you haven't seen it, you will still at least know a fair bit about it. Expand

I've heard this movie described as "fat". I don't know what that's meant to mean, but I don't think it's true - it's not as good as the first, obviously, mainly because there is possibly an eensy too much nonchalant gunplay and too little story or character development. Also, it retcons the first film a little - I thought John Connor smashed the time machine right after sending his Dad back. Still, it's bloody good - Schwarzenegger's new good-guy status, far from being the cripplingly ridiculous idea some have labelled it, prevents the bloody thing from becoming too remeniscent of the first film. Robert Patrick is brilliant as the sort of Terminator that His Majesty (Cameron) wanted Arnie to be in the first place - Lance Henriksen was originally cast in the first one before the suits intervened - an ordinary Joe who happens to be a killer cyborg from the future. Linda Hamilton (much missed from T3) is genuinely scary, Edward Furlong succeeds in making us not hate her son, Arnie's still great in a role which requires him, basically, to walk, shoot and sometimes say things, and there's lots more of LeChuck, Monkey Island fans (the bald-headed psychiatrist guy? Also in the first movie? That's the DemonZombieGhost Pirate LeChuck, that is). In summary then: This. Film. Is. Good. T3 not so much; the films need more than just Arnie, see: they're almost nothing without His Majesty, Linda and LeChuck alongside him. Well, maybe not LeChuck so much. Expand

It's pure Hollywood, but with the amazingly versitile and shrewd James Carmeron at its helm, T2 deserves every bit of its status as a pop culture icon. Touching, cool and memorable for everyone from kids to adults even to those who like to take their films more seriously than they perhaps should.

Loaded wih more vision than shotgun shells and man are there a lot of shotgun shells. It's not a smart action movie. Time travel always opens more plot holes than ideas. It's the action itself that is smart.

While it doesn't really withstand repeat viewings (the characters are about as interesting as Steven Seagal), this film is still technically accomplished and undeniably delivers on the thrills, suspense and action which has always been Cameron's strong point.

This movie was the greatest film of all time when it came out. It created the new era of special effects and the action was just pure genious. Arnie proved he was the king of hollywood in this film. It also had the best film score of all time. I guess u can just say that i'm a hard core Terminator fan. But, Lord of the Rings comes first.

there seems to be only one man who can take the original movie and make it better . first Aliens now the terminator . camron just takes every thing and kicks it up a few knotches and does it so well. this is deffinitly the blue print on how to make a kick ass sequel and just make a kick ass action film period . the story is nothing to new that pushes the series foward much basically machine sent from the past to kill sarah conners son instead of her . this time though arnold is the good terminator sent to protect john connor from the bad one . its nothing ground breaking but it sure is entertaining as hell to wach .the acting is pretty well done and the action just blows up on the screen with gusto . i dont think you could see this film and leave it saying it needed more action . the visuals in its day where amazing i remember seeing this in the theater and every one was loving it . even by todays standered it still holds up pretty well. so if you wana see a great action flick and have missed this then you should check it out. This sequel is vastly inferior to the original when it comes to the atmosphere that it creates. The first one is a sci-fi thriller, this one is a sci-fi action with bang-boom blast at every corner.Ironically, here are even more boring dialogues than in the first movie moreover they are empty, gubberish.Oh & Sarah Connor here is such an annoying character, she's not anymore the innocent girl from T-1. Arnold here is such a douchebag, he's not a cyborg anymore.T-1000 saves the day.Robert Patrick is monumental.Oh & remember that John Connor's adoptive mother is in fact the badass Vasquez from Aliens, that is so awesome. As a Terminator movie, T-2 fails but as an action movie, it's the 2nd greatest all-time(nr#1 being Die Hard). Expand

Despite what has happened both in Arnold Schwarzenegger's personal and political life, there can be no changing of the fact that Arnold helped make some of the most thrilling, action-packed adventure movies to ever grace the big screen back in his prime. If the first movie was good with Arnold being the evil Terminator hunting down the seemingly innocent Sarah Connor (while utilizing some very top notch special effects by 1984 standards,) this 1991 sequel is even better with Arnold being the good Terminator trying to prevent John Connor from being hunted down. This movie is well-placed, and focuses mainly on the three main characters, John, Sarah, and the now good Terminator as it should. This movie also gets high marks from me as it featured special effects that were WAY ahead of its time, courtesy of the new, evil Terminator that can regenerate its body, even when it's broken into dozens of pieces! This movie demonstrates that while we don't know for certain what is going to happen in the future, we are always in control of what happens in the present, and therefore, we all play a hand in shaping what the future will eventually have in store for us. I thoroughly enjoyed this movie, and I highly recommend it to people looking for some great thrills! Expand

This is one OUTSTANDING movie! rarely do you see a film this ambicious realised. It was so ahead of its time when it came out,in Drama, action & special effects,& i'll never forget the first time i saw it,which was on the big screen in Leister Square in london. You know critics are generally out of touch with everyone else, when they've given this movie a meta score of 63 !?! Although its a fairly similar plot to the first movie, the acting, screenplay, music score, special effects, stunts & photography are so good, that it just puts this up with the best movies ever made.. Classic James Cameron at his best(not that he's done anything i havnt liked bar Titanic). This movie,& indeed its predecessor, are simply must see's.Now we just have to not dwell on the third movie too much.. Against the grain of what so many other people think, I don't really like JUDGMENT DAY anywhere near as much as THE TERMINATOR. It has too many unnecessary special effects. If just those had been edited to different ones / taken out completely (i.e. a Terminator coming out of the floor looking like a blob of checkers in the shape of a human body), this film would have been flawless.

Terminator 2 is an amazing and enjoying thrill ride that is one of the best action movies ever. The plot is very well constructed, the acting (especially Arnold Schwarzennegger's Terminator) is top-notch and very memorable. The amount of depth each character has is just amazing and you identify with each character, there is such an emotional charge to each moment that you are sucked into the movie. The action scenes are top-notch and will keep you enthralled in it, there are many in the movie and suspense is well-maintained when needed as well. The movie is sure to be remembered and quoted every time for a long time ("Hasta La Vista, Baby"). Flaws, there are hardly any except for maybe it can be a bit lengthy and the action takes some time to get interesting but once it does it's awesome and it is a small flaw though. Overall, Terminater 2 is a smash-hit movie that is an example of a super-action flick deftly crafted with emotion that will be remembered forever and is almost as good as the first one. Breakdown for "Terminator 2: Judgement Day": Presentation: 9.7, Plot: 9.8, Acting: 9.9, Script: 9.7, Lasting Appeal: 10, Verdict: 9.8 out of 10 "Amazing". Expand

Movies cant get any better than this in my opinion. The action, the story, the cast, the effects, everything is so well done that it definitely deserve its praise. It also has something beyond the gunshots and explosions, the movie also has a deep message on how precious the human spirit is. If a metal, killer, robotic organism from the future can discover the value of human life, maybe we can too. My highest recommendation...11 out of 10. Expand

Really well made. The visual effects and action sequences are great. Well made and are just amazing. Overall, this is a great 90s action blockbuster. You really should see it.

  1. A great movie... A pop epiphany, marking that commercially creative point where the power of Hollywood meets the purity of myth.
  2. 67
What is notable, though, is the amount of compassion invested in the film by Cameron and co-screenwriter William Wisher. There's a fairly well-drawn moral message in T2 that was more or less absent in the first film.

The key element in any action picture, I think, is a good villain. Terminator 2 has one, along with an intriguing hero and fierce heroine, and a young boy who is played by Furlong with guts and energy.
