  1. Surprise after surprise follows in this increasingly dark comedy, which is loaded with sharp observations and exceptionally complex characterizations.
  2. A confusing blend of noir mystery and screwball comedy, Testosterone never manages to reconcile its conflicting tones and ultimately lacks the wit necessary to fuel its outlandish plotting.
  3. Starts quirky, grows steadily darker, doesn't build much excitement.
  4. Makes no psychological sense. Even within the convoluted realm of film noir, the development of the relationships defies any logic.

Although beautifully filmed, the script of Testosterone is absolutely horrible. Argentina is portrayed as a decadent "European" country (forget that it is in Latin America) crossed with the most pathetic Latin Lover (and violent murderer) stereotypes. The main character plays the Ugly American abroad to the utmost and seems to have a head-splitting caffeine migraine throughout the entire movie. It is painful to watch this film, which is a shame, given all the attractive male (and female) actors and scenes of hot gay sex. Sonia Braga, an actress I adore, plays a terribly written and poorly acted matriarch. See at your own risk. Do not waste your money on the DVD. Expand
