An exhilarating balancing act, at once a science-fiction romp, a paranoid thriller and a philosophical treatise.
By keeping the pace quick, the explanation light and the characters strong, Nolfi achieves the near-impossible: a film puzzle you won't mind leaving unexplained.

If the film didn't star Matt Damon I would have to admit, alas, that I would have dismissed it as an absurd sifi with philosophical pretensions. However, having finished my book and the plane's other onflight entertainment failing to pique my interest I decided to give this film a chance.
And I'm extremely glad that I did. The plot isn't too involved, nor did it have me questioning topics such as the profound meaning of life, alternate worlds, freewill, fate, destiny and such (although some people I know did feel that it questioned everything they did). However, while I watched the film I didn't think "oh what a silly plot" as it was clever enough to be entertaining, it possessed the capacity to hold you in suspense, it had action, and a certain underlying depth so that you felt connected to the characters as well as enough sentiment to be romantic without being gushy. The performance by both actors was extremely well, particularly the chemistry. I believe it was this that really brought to film alive and gave credit to the plot. The romance really did save this film. Generally with these genres when romance is added it's never well thought out and is a sort of byproduct carelessly thrown in. But in this film the chemistry between the actors really brings out the film's plot and supersedes the negatives.

What's striking about the picture, I think, is its lack of violent threat.
This "Inception" meets "Made in Heaven" by way of "They Live" is also the screwiest movie Matt Damon has been in since, what, "Dogma?"
Sometimes, a strong premise makes for a weak movie, which ends up drowning in its own clever conceit.
As in Christopher Nolan's Inception, the premise is so mind-boggling and fraught with implications that it tends to obviate the action mechanics of the last couple reels.
There's a startling moment 10 or 15 minutes into The Adjustment Bureau - the only time, really, when the film achieves any level of surprise. The dispiriting dullness of this dreary misfire hasn't had time to settle in and thicken: The movie hasn't yet revealed its utter and thorough ineptitude.
The fallacies and philosphy by "worldly men" concerning free will (1 Cor 3:19). Thou it is fictitious, this movie relates the relationship between mankind and angels, in order to capture the minds of people and mislead those who do not read the bible. God does not force an individual to accept either destiny, and in that sense he allows to every intelligent creature the exercise of free will. It is not denied by predestinarians that men are free moral agents, yet their own teachings certainly deny it. Free will is a blessing for man and makes him human, rather than a ROBOT. Thou it is just a movie, be careful if your spiritual minded (Eph 4:14; Rev 12:9-12)

Why would you use American Beauty as your temp track for a Sci fi action film? Something about this adaptation just doesn't work, and the score the perfect manifestation of that. It isn't a bad score, but it isnt appropriate or effective for this story. There are many things like that in this film, whose tone is often not appropriate either, feeling like a romcom romp at times.
I do hope someone else will give this story another try in the future. The premise is a gem, but nothing quite feels right in this cut of the gem.

On the brink of winning a senate seat David Norris (Damon) meets the girl of his dreams in Elise (Blunt) only to find mysterious mean determined to keep them apart. The Adjustment Bureau sets up an interesting premise but, while it remains relatively entertaining throughout, it never really delivers fully on this premise and the ending is a little disappointing.

The Adjustment Bureau is just a trashy, forgettable film. What was the point of any of the things that happened? No deep or challenging thoughts are presented, and a somewhat ok idea is just mangled and handled in the laziest way possible. Avoid this one, unless you have a taste for hammy overacting and a cheap laugh at this film's expense.

I didnt like the matrix, thought the ending of source code was lame but i would watch either of them again than having to endure the adjustment bureau once more. The start of the movie is great and i had such high hopes but then the movie tries to gain its strength on a love relationship which was never fully developed. Without the leading actor the movie would have gone straight to DVD.
