For those in the 3 to 5 bracket, Elmo doesn't often aim wrong.
  4. Gentle, funny and full of the lessons one expects from the scions of the late Jim Henson.
  5. There's probably not much of an audience for Elmo in Grouchland beyond the toddler crowd.
  6. Full of that wonderful junky, clunky, huggable smartness that has made "Sesame Street'' an enduring phenomenon.

Elmo graciously shares the stage with a cast of players who will not only delight youngsters but will come as sweet relief to grown-ups.

This sweet little tale is as informative as it is entertaining for its target audience, the very youngest of the Muppet franchise's fans.

A top-notch example of uninsulting kid humor at its goofiest.
  10. While adults may feel out of their league, there are a few jokes that will appeal to them.

    The film is simplicity itself.
  15. The film is nothing if not benign, but its merits are moot for those above 7 or so.
  16. It looks as if no one bothered to deliver more than the minimum requirement of magic or artistry.

Too tepid to interest anyone old enough to operate a TV remote control.

Elmo's obsessive reaction is never examined, compromising the ability of this rambling minor spectacle to put across its obvious lesson about sharing.

Hardly a ripping, inspired children's film.

I'd wait for video unless your kid's just dying to see "Sesame Street" characters on the big screen.
