An honorable and often enticing piece of personal filmmaking.
It's hard to deny that Gallo has caught the freedom and melancholy, the intoxicating aimlessness, the lonely twilight beauty of a solo road trip in a way that no previous filmmaker quite has.

This is the most beautiful, original and brilliant film I have ever seen. Those who disagree are entitled to their opinion. Those who strongly disagree are clearly not reacting to the film. Vincent Gallo is extremely talented in many ways. He is also complex sensitive, poetic and very funny. The public responses to him vary greatly. He is completely misunderstood and those who misunderstand his intensions and humor will certainly misunderstand his masterful works of art.

An astonishing improvement on the original version. With 27 minutes excised, pic emerges from its mind-numbing undergrowth as a memorable -- if still highly specialized -- exercise in personal, '70s-style American filmmaking, with a cohesive feel and rhythm that marks Gallo as a distinctive indie talent.
It's actually quite interesting, albeit in a supremely self-conscious and artsy-fartsy way.
How much you enjoy the experience will depend on your take on Gallo. If you think he's a brilliant, satirical cut-up, then The Brown Bunny is an elaborate and successful art prank. If you think he's a pretentious, self-obsessed, tedious weirdo, then The Brown Bunny will back you up 100%

There are not enough synonyms for ''bad'' to describe the pretension and utter banality of the masturbatory The Brown Bunny, a film so exhaustively awful even its creator Vincent Gallo once disavowed it.
The Brown Bunny is one of the worst independent films that Vincent Gallo directed this strange movie. The scenes are too boring to watch,because we see that the character keeps driving around all the way to the road and nothing with the plot that he's going at the same plot without no explanation of the story. The characters had no speaking louder in the audience and we try to figure it out what they're saying. Chloe Sevigny just arrived and she started to have a sex scene,but very graphic and too controversial with the actress (that it looks like a porn or a sex scandal in this movie that the audience see.) I give this movie a horrible,but amazing horrible film that Gallo did this horrible film that he shows in Cannes and I agree with Roger Ebert that he only gave three stars and thumbs up for saying "amazing horrible film. But it's just a horrible independent adult film and it's seen to believe!

What is the point of this movie? Just to show the repetitive story that's presented five times which one or two versions could do? Like what for? It seems so self gratuitous. This would be better as a short film. I lost soul to what? It's just this empty film ending with a sex scene of two people that are actually a couple. So what? What's it for? It's just pathetic.
