  • Summary: In 1989, emergency responders received a 9-1-1 call from Maria Rossi confessing that she had brutally killed three people. 20 years later, her daughter Isabella seeks to understand the truth about what happened that night. She travels to the Centrino Hospital for the Criminally Insane in Italy where her mother has been locked away to determine if her mother is mentally ill or demonically possessed. When she recruits two young exorcists to cure her mom using unconventional methods combining both science and religion, they come face-to-face with pure evil in the form of four powerful demons possessing Maria. Many have been possessed by one; only one has been possessed by many. (Paramount Pictures)

While this religio-horror effort does contain some nice scares, and a memorably unnerving turn from Crowley, The Devil Inside's biggest shock arrives when it abruptly ends - just as it hits its stride. The result is a found-footage movie whose third act remains missing.

The film's contradictory and nullifying dilemma of wanting to be both scripted and vérité at once, a plight that affects so much contemporary TV, is temporarily quelled in heated scenes of curse-laden levitation and Linda Blair contortion, which dutifully deliver the scares.

It has been a long time since I've heard people - many people - distinctly yell, "Boo!" Usually they just growl or moan or hiss. They don't bother actually to articulate the word "Boo!" I second their statement. The ending reeks.

Almost competent but not quite watchable.

  1. Best scary movie out there since Insidious! It does a good job of making you believe these characters are real and they are possessed by some kind of devil. The ending is good as well despite what others may have you believe. Packed with a ton of scary moments and makes you think that exorcism could actually be real, even though its not. Has more true scary moments(not false ones where a cat jumped down from a table or crap like that) than the woman in black, innkeepers, and paranormal 3 combined. Even the main girl in the movie is decent to look at Expand
  2. I am quite biased with horror movies since it's the only genre I like, but yeah, this generally was a good movie that stays with you a long time after you've watched it. I find myself saying "Connect the Cuts" months after I watched the movie - that line was genius. Some scenes were quite disturbing, which is great. The acting was alright as well. But the ending wasn't very good at all, which is why I'll give it an 8. ...Connect the Cuts. Expand
  3. I am not one to go see horror movies by far, and on top of this I have never seen a movie that was made like this ever before in my life. However I did really get into the movie, up until the end credits I had honestly believed that it was based on a real story. The story really needs more because there are things in the story that go unanswered, and the ending really sucked ending so abruptly. To be honest they could have done a little more with it, and made it a little more entertaining. But all together it was not the worst movie that I have ever seen. Expand
  4. Im going to be completely honest and say this movie sucked. Did every minute of the movie suck? no, but about 99.9% of it did. Devil possession movie always scare me, but the devil inside didn't, except during one small scene, i don't want to give anything away to you people who havent seen this movie yet (which you shouldnt btw), but to the people who have, the scene with David the priest was a little frightening, but it was just too clouded by the rest of the movie which was an atrocity. The acting was horrible, the plot was dumb, and everything else doesnt even need to be mentioned. This movie was filled with awkward moments and sexual remarks by the devil, which by the way since when did the devil become such a sex addict? It was just pure stupidity all around, the only reason i even saw this film was to see just how bad it really was. Don't see this, save your money, save your time, and most certainly save your brain cells because i certainly feel dumber after watching this .5/10 .5 only for that one scene Expand
