    If you can tell the difference between a mule and a pump, attendance at The Devil Wears Prada is mandatory. You might have to reach back to "Funny Face" to find a fashion movie so on-trend.

    Amusing but essentially lightweight and insubstantial. Nothing wrong with that really - and there are some good performances. But there’s a resonant nastiness about the film that lingers - and it makes the assumption that yes, fashion does matter, if only because we should make efforts that it not matter. Expand
