  1. The Devil's Advocate is a sharp, suspenseful and completely satisfying movie.
  2. Unlike so many pagan entertainments that seem to have no moral center as they blow things up, this one in fact does. It's very small, but it's there.
  3. The story (adapted from Andrew Neiderman's novel by Jonathan Lemkin and Tony Gilroy) is surprisingly well-handled, given its rather crazy premise.
  4. The Devil's Advocate is a dull morality tale, but a number of bright moments come courtesy of the Prince of Darkness.
  5. Taylor Hackford's thriller makes a mischievous assault on today's legal system, but its points would be more telling if the story didn't veer so often into needless sensationalism and eye-catching effects.

The picture starts off slick and amusing, gets convoluted, draggy and strange round about the midway point, and ends up just plain ludicrous.

A high caliber thriller that is equalled in quality by few thrillers similar to the excellence of this movie.

A thriller that will have you questioning what is reality and what is an illusion. The plot is convoluted
and the plot will hold your
attention for almost 2 and a half hours. Expand

Devil's Advocate is an expert legal and psychological thriller. Kevin Lomax gets a chance to move to New York with his wife from Florida where he practices law. A renowned firm offers him the position and he accepts right away. Everything seems fine when they arrive but Kevin starts suspecting that the firm is shady. Their clients commit perjury and guilty clients are let off the hook. John Milton the owner has many unsavoury connections but the firm's image is squeaky clean. The movie is a jigsaw puzzle and the pieces are not revealed easily. One of my favourite movies that will soon become an instant favourite of yours as well. The revelations are impossible to predict. Devil's advocate has a great cast, spooky elements and brilliant performances from Al Pacino, Keanu
Reeves and Charlize Theron. The movie is
intricately plotted and will keep you on the edge of your
seat. Definitely one of the most underrated thrillers of the 90's.

It is not a brilliant movie, but it's amusing. The devil's character begun to be mysterious and with the right speech, but at the end it is ruined by the good vs devil's "cliché" conversation. Expand
