The Divide manages to transcend its numerous flaws while indulging them: No matter where it falters, the underlying purpose stays put.
Director Xavier Gens seems to have set out to fashion a taut, under-siege thriller, but he never lets the innate drama of the situation play out; too often, events are accompanied by loud thumps and whooshes on the soundtrack.

This is a masterpiece. The fact that the opinions are so polarizing is enough to tell you that this movie is very different. I won't spoil you the plot, but the cinematography, the human emotion and the idea are all captured beautifully and I haven't seen a movie yet that does these so effortlessly. |
If you are a firm believer in society and that the mankind is good by nature and not a ferocious beast when everything goes to hell, then this movie is not for you.
But if you know the facts that in our nature we are still animals and when our survival is in question, we are capable of doing unimaginable things - you will LOVE this movie.

Valuable life lessons always come at a steep price, and this one is no exception. Sorry, but you'll have to shell out for The Divide and then suffer through its nearly two hours of bloody inanities. Weigh the balance, make your choice.
We wait, from one cringe-inducing, hide-your-face-from-the-screen act after another, to see how much worse the behavior will become.
As the loosely aligned band of survivors turns into a pack of sociopathic loners, the only reasonable conclusion is that they were all pretty rotten to begin with.
Relentlessly unpleasant and nihilistic in its approach and execution, The Divide is best appreciated as a virtual instruction manual on how not to behave during a crisis.
Expect the dregs for weeks to come, but I can safely say with absolutely no trepidation that it is unlikely to get worse than a lurid, lewd and loathsome shockfest called The Divide.
Fantastic nail biting apocalypse film. Lauren German and Michael Biehn are both fantastic in the way they portray innocent morality driven people put in one of the most desperate situations imaginable.

Lo realmente bueno de esta película es la dura tensión entre los personajes al verse atrapados bajo un edificio sin oportunidad de volver a la superficie, lo cual causa estragos en la cordura de cada uno, lo demás es demasiado lento y azaroso y un final que no dice nada positivo, a vivir en un mundo desierto es mejor buscar una muerte rápida.

The only thing I will never undestand in these kind of movies is... why does the worst ALWAYS happen? Worst case scenario in every single case! The characters put inside that basement were impossible mix all by themselves, paired with that it just makes this movie completely detached from reality. Yes, I understand the point authors try to make, but you need at least one character you can relate to and a setting that seems adequately plausible to immerse yourself in it, otherwise it's just like a nightmare, you wake up and realize it was total ****
