I was between watching the family that preys or high school musical 3 but i decided to watch the family that preys with my homies intead of HSM 3 with my girl and i really got bored in this movie so without the movie staff noticing i changed to the HSM 3 screen and enjoyed a great movie. Dont watch this movie. It is not worth it if you dont like senseless movies.

Really good story-line.

You guys just don't get it. This is the life of some African-American families down do the boardroom drama. Don't criticize Perry's movies because he's reaching an audience that most writer's have untapped. Ten, Ten, 10!

An engaging drama that makes one want to converse with the theatre screen from beginning to end...although there were too many scenes with the elderly friends ........ Love the cast.

I think that Tyler Perry went above and beyond to deliver a story that is entertaining and reflects that values of Black Christians.

I loved the entire life lesson that this movie brought out. I really felt like I learned from it. Real life aspects were brought out in this movie. It did not have a perfect happy ending for every one but then again, life does not always have a perfect happy ending. I LOVED THIS MOVIE!

The type of movie that you could take your kids to, yet have a story line that's interesting and entertaining for adults. In most instances you leave a movie asking yourself, " What would I have done different to make this a better movie?" My answer: Nothing!!!

Perry has proven again that black actors and actresses can play roles beyond the pimps, whores and drug dealers that other Directors want to stereotype us into.

In "The Family That Preys", as a road trip shared by two women winds down, Alice Pratt(Alfre Woodard) stops the car near a river where baptismal are being performed by a minister. Charlotte Cartwright(Kathy Bates) resists, but her best friend insists, so it comes to be that the matriarch and magnate of a powerful family accepts Jesus Christ as her personal lord and savior. Unbeknownst at the time, the filmmaker sentences his creation to eternal damnation. Check the dogma. Ironically, uncannily, and accidentally, he repeats the same mistake as D.W. Griffith in "The Birth of a Nation". When a 500-ft. Jesus materializes at the end of the influential, but controversial film, Flora's escape from Gus' clutches on the highlands' precipice, ceases to exist in a vacuum, as the Christian iconography capitulates the scared woman's hasty decision in a way that Griffith never intended. He didn't check the dogma. The cross-purposes at work in "The Family That Preys" shows signs of a filmmaker who grafted on the church to appease his base, in a film that literally takes a time out from being "Dynasty", so it can let down its hair and be the unofficial sequel to "Bonneville". "The Family That Preys" is like two films in one, starring two Kathy Bates, whose Charlotte takes code-switching to the brink of multiple-personalities. But miracle of miracles, this film works as an integrated soap opera, despite its piecemeal components(the film has the potential to evoke John Sayles' "Passion Fish", too). Andrea(Sanaa Lathan) is so bitchy, so utterly transgressive; when she's finally knocked off her high-horse, it's unsatisfying, because she's replaced by Jillian(Kadee Strickland), by the status quo of the filmic universe. I thought this movie was Fantastic! It was different from Perry's norm and it was great! It had the realism of everyday life that no one wants to talk about. Excellent Job!

Yet more Tyler Perry far fetched melodramatics, nice acting but the screenplay is completely unconvincing. Poor direction, fair score. Unmemorable and pointless.

Classic story that highlights the best and the worst in all of us. Great movie to remind all of us to have respect for ourselves and those closest to us.

I loved it. It is nice to go and see a movie I can related to. I am black woman that may be faithful to her spouse but still enjoyed it. Why do we have to always go and see movies that never look like us. This is excellent!!! I will be seeing it again this weekend.

One of Tyler Perrys best movies . Excellent cast

This was Perry's best. I thought Sanaa L. was great as a bad girl. K. Bates and A. Woodard gave their usual A+ performances. It kept me interested and excited throughout.

This is one of Tyler Perry's best and whoever says different is stupid because this movie is not all over the place.It has a wonderful plot with great Christian views that we all need in our life.I love this movie. Two thumbs for Tyler Perry.

This movie is Tyler's best work yet! Everytime you think it can't get better, it does! Excellent performances from Alfre, Kathy, Sanaa, Rockmond, Cole and Kaydee. LOVED it!

Do yourself a favor and forget the two negative reviews that were left. The other 34 reviewers have their heads on straight. Now back to it...This movie was very good, sure it isn't anything new, but well executed and well acted by tyler perry and the rest of the cast. Any fan of Tyler Perry will enjoy this one unless you were expecting it to be a religious flick.

This was an excellent movie! I saw it at the movies and will definitiely be adding it to my dvd collection.
